  1. Not really, I’m next to Helmsley probably about 30 minutes from Grinkle Park
  2. It’s bloody cold up at the shoot, we’ve got between 5/6” of the white stuff but 5 miles further over towards Whitby they have between 12/14” a big part of the moor is cut off, my birds are looking good and were pleased to see me as with this very cold weather I’ve introduced a lot more maize and soy beans to keep them warm
  3. Might be the same lad, these are from Richmond, they have a machine that looks like a screeding machine, it will only take them about an hour to do this drive and they charge a fortune, they are taking a days wages for a couple of hours graft, nice work if you can get it
  4. We used to do everything with a rifle, a lad I know used to do bulls with a .308, year ago I was asked to do two pigs, when I got there they were the kids pets and had collars on and they wanted to watch it being shot
  5. Finished off clearing the hedge by 1 thought I’d go home until the tarmacers for the driveway job said there wasn’t enough stone in ( they definitely said 120mm ) so off there to put another ton in
  6. Bit of pruning today, I’m 15 minutes from my house and we had 2” of snow this morning, nothing here, but it’s bloody freezing
  7. Homemade chicken and veg pie tonight with hasselbacks and tender stem
  8. First soup of the season, potato and leek, very nice FAO Mac, chopping board has had another two coats of oil, should get a bit lighter in colour, it’s ok from a bit of timber that was going on the fire
  9. Hope your dads ok mate there’s always something to worry about
  10. Pork stroganoff, I seem to be having some kind of stroganoff once a week and I like it
  11. All the sets in, ready for the tarmacers, I’ve got nowt on for the next couple of days so I’ll just put my feet up I think
  12. Few sets down today before the snow arrives
  13. That was lovely, pork cooked to perfection and there’s enough for a pork stroganoff tomorrow
  14. It’s had it’s first coat of mineral oil, I’ll leave it soak in for 24 hours then do it again
  15. Slow roast pork loin for today, I know a lot of folks are not a fan of pork but I’ve tested it and it’s lovely also made myself a new carving board this morning while I was pottering around
  16. A mushroom ragu tonight, lovely after being out in the wind and rain all day at my shoot
  17. Just me tonight because Mrs Stav has gone to some concert in Newcastle, she said she told me but I don’t remember ( or listen) so I just did myself a tomato, pepper and chilli pasta, it was alright
  18. I’d definitely check the phonic on a D max they are a rotor type and are external to the hub, so get all the weather on them
  19. As above, I think I’ve had more phonic wheel failures when it comes up with a sensor fault than in being the sensor itself
  20. Good on the lad, clearly knows his own mind and you’ve got to respect that
  21. Think I’m just going to go home, can’t get on with anything here
  22. Good old toad in the hole tonight, and I’m having it on my blue tray, on my knee in front of the telly because Mrs Stav is out
  23. Driveway dig out and prep today for tarmac, not quite sure why I’m here, I think my mate just feels sorry for me, but I’ll take the days money
  24. Chicken and all the winter veg, lovely on a manky day like today
