  1. I had a go at the pigeons this morning on the rape, there was quite a few about and managed 11 and a crow for 18 shots before been called away for a family crisis, think I may of had a few more shots if I set up under the trees the other side of the field as the seemed to be coming down that line before crossing the field and if there was a bit of wind and it wasn’t -3 ? but there’s always another day
  2. Rabbits will live almost anywhere, but farm land ( crop fields) are always top of my bunny bashing list, this time of year I tend to go out after dark for rabbits in the summer I like early warm evenings, over the last few years the rabbit population has had it hard with disease but there’s still some about, I don’t think we will ever see the days when we were shooting 40’s a night again
  3. Sad times Gav, I’ve had a few in a couple of places around here where you could just pick them up and no matter where I go the numbers are low
  4. You won’t buy a better rimfire than a Cz, I’ve had no bother with the browning but it was a lot more money than the Cz and is no better
  5. Yes mate that will be the longshanx with his Cz .22 in the spec you said, we both shoot 17’s as well, him with a posh tikka T1x and I have a browning T bolt and a Cz both in 17, they are all very accurate rifles
  6. They are on the rape up here, just because there’s nothing else for them to be at, the field I’m sat in now has been battered, what’s been shot so far is a bit on the skinny side ?
  7. No snow yet on the lower ground but it is a bit fresh, I almost had to put a jumper on ??
  8. Me and longshanx took ourselves out for a walk to a spot I haven’t been for a while, few hoppers about and he managed 4, two of them we couldn’t find as they were in the hedge backs but I’m sure a ginger will find them and put them to good use ?
  9. They are up here in quite large numbers around saltholme and the mouth of the river Tees but I remember when I was a young un out with the lamping lads we used to see flocks of them in fields further inland, I can’t of seen that for over 20 years
  10. Cracking video ? I always forget about this end of the forum, so just subscribed to your YouTube channel
  11. First go with my new dslr, using it in manual so please bear with me, was going for a good walk but due to the weather had to take them from the car ?
  12. Thanks mate, that makes perfect sense, I’ve watched a couple of videos on it and most of them are a bit to much information to take in all at once
  13. Well I got finished early today so sat down for an hour with the new camera, it took me 20 minutes to work out how to set the date and time and another half hour to work out the app, so by then, no time to go out so the pet rabbits got to be my subject, I’m trying to use it in manual so I get to know what it can do, the one thing I want to learn is blurring the background so an evening of YouTube is on the cards, cheers for the help ?
  14. That’s it, over for another year, 41 was the bag and there was some screamers, two of the drives produced some very high and fast birds, kids all got some good shooting and everyone went home happy, we will be having a squirrel day for the kids over the next couple of weeks, we put 750 birds down and we are around 450 shot and picked with a few more not found, so you will get no complaints form me with them numbers from our little shoot ?
  15. Ha ha, it was like Christmas Day this morning, I almost didn’t want to go on the pheasant shoot so I could go and have a play with it, no doubt I’ll get home tonight and there will be a million pictures of the bloody cat ?
  16. Once again lads thanks for your help, got in from work and the missus had pick it up for me, battery on charge and she’s picking me up a couple of sd cards In the morning while I’m out on my last day at the pheasants, she a good un, hopefully get to play with it after the weekend ?
  17. I haven’t got the sd yet so I think that would be the way to do it, I mentioned it to the missus this morning and she went out and bought it and said if it was left to me to make a decision about spending money I’d never get one, I hope she doesn’t want the cash off me ?
  18. Well thanks for the advice, I’ve bit the bullet and bought the canon with the extra lens, I’ve watched every review I can find and although it’s an entry level camera no one says it’s not worth the money and if I learn to use it it’s a lot more than a point and shoot, so we’ll give it a go ?
  19. Cheers mate, yeah, ten minutes from my house and I work out the back of saltholme, I quite often sit up there with my bino’s and a bit further up watching the seals
  20. Thank you for that, them pictures are amazing, I think I’m going to treat myself to the canon and see how I get in with it ?
  21. Wow, that’s a lot of fox, looks like you have made a good start on them, nice work ?
  22. Well we had an hour out and it was positively tropical at -4, even the rabbits thought better of it with just a handful about, no fox, the bait has gone but the camera didn’t catch it due to the lens being frozen over, put another camera in the front field near to the spot where I’ve been seeing it, it’s looking like an early morning thing now so depending on work I might put a night shift in and do the pheasant shoot first
  23. Yeah, they shouldn’t be doing it but they seem to think they know best, my mate who runs the shoot sent someone home last year for shooting at a hare, he didn’t like this and never came back this season, you don’t need to be shooting with people like that
  24. We have a no ground game rule on the shoot, but for some of the more experienced guns they take this more as a suggestion than a rule with a couple been shot on the drives last season, this is all well and good until someone gets hurt
