  1. Oh yes, you’ll never meet a rich live stock farmer, maybe the big chicken lads, but who wants to smell like chicken sh*t
  2. I’ve just been to the farm to bag some wheat up, when I’d finished I pulled into the yard from the back shed where the farmer was stood talking to another farmer, not unusual you might think ? the other farmer had just got out of a brand new Lamborghini Urus, about 180k worth of car, in a ripped shirt and a pair of wellies and who said there’s no money in farming, I suppose it’s better than giving it to the tax man ?
  3. I use goats milk soap, it’s a really good moisturiser ?
  4. That sound more like psoriasis than eczema, I suffer from it on my hands and feet, it’s an immune system problem, sometimes it will just come on, but normally when something affects my immune system, for example when I had the vaccine my psoriasis went mental to the point it was all over my body, if she’s just had a baby this will of affected her immune system and could of triggered it off, there’s no cure for it, just management, she’d be best off going to the doctors for a steroid cream, something like Betnovate, everything you buy in the chemist is just a moisturiser
  5. I’ve got a t3x in .223 ( not varmint barrel) and it shoots 55gn good enough for me, it comes down barrel twist, try a couple of different rounds, my mate has a tikka varmint barrel and that likes 53gn
  6. I was saying to the shoot captain today that unless we get some cold weather I’d happily cancel our first day ( 1st Saturday in November) and shoot every Saturday in January to get the days in, he said he’d leave it up to me, so we’ll see what the next 4 weeks bring
  7. Good luck for your first day, you’ll all be in short sleeve, it will be like shooting pheasants on a summers day ?
  8. They are the crates that paving comes in, turned upside down and the bottoms cut out of them, we used to give them away or burn them at the farm until I worked out that a feeder would fit inside, you know you would find a sheep stuck in one ?
  9. No wonder my birds are taking so long to feather up, I was up feeding and at 5:30 this afternoon and it was 19 degrees, it’s October for gods sake, I need some cold weather, I’m going to need to start shooting some soon just to stop them eating so much feed ? also the bloody fallow have started bashing up the feeders, good job I learned that lesson a few seasons ago and started putting them in crates to stop them rolling them about ?
  10. Take more than a bit of water to keep them lot out, they’d give the vikings a run for their money
  11. I give up, I can’t find it, how do I explain what I’ve done to their lawn ?
  12. Still looking, using a bigger spade now ?
  13. I’m not into this ferreting, all this for a bloody rabbit ?
  14. A quick trip up to the sheep farm tonight for a go at the rabbits again, I took little Hugo’s dad with me and just one rifle, the .17hmr for some long shots, taking turns to shoot we gave up after 14 as the rain was getting heavier, not a bad hour out, only missing 2, 1 each, he missed his in spectacular fashion, after 8 shot the little fluffy bugger deserved to live ?
  15. Doesn’t matter with me, left eye closed, right eye closed, both open, both closed, I’m probably still going to miss it ?
  16. Yeah, I should be, I’ll give you a ring towards the end of the week and we’ll sort something out ?
  17. I’ve seen that nice buck again on the field at the back of the farm and there’s been quite a few doe’s over the piggeries, not long to go now for them as well, everywhere you walk there’s slots, now I’ve got feeders out I’ve got a good idea where to look for them, I’m free most weekends so whatever suits you, with a bit of luck I’ll have my binoculars back from repair next week as I managed to bust them, good job vortex come with a lifetime warranty
  18. I can feel it going round in my veins now ?
  19. Shoot bramble gin coming along nicely, looks like vimto, I’m glad I never took the old girls advice and made a pie with them
  20. Chicken and leek pie, new spuds cooked in butter, cavolo nero and a cream, white wine, chicken stock source
  21. The smock was really nice and looked really well made, it was more the after sales, where he got it from wanted to send it back rather than just give him another one, I think in the end they he lost his sh*t with them and they gave him his money back
  22. I’ve got half a dozen spots now where I feed on straw and another half a dozen scratchers I feed under, plus hand feeding on a few rides, I use the feeders as a bit of a back up once they are on wheat, by the time we get into November the fallow start rolling the feeders around unless they are nailed down
  23. Weather’s knackered mate, it’s back up to 21 degrees and sunshine on Friday, we don’t seem to get dry, cold weather until late November now, if we are lucky
