  1. To be fair I like it all, probably because I’m from up north and to us there’s not much better than free food ?
  2. It’s on my list of hunting experiences for the next 12 months, an animal as fine as that would be nice but to be honest I be happy with any, everyone I know who has eaten it has said it’s the finest venison around ?
  3. That’s a cracker, I’m obsessed with them, probably because we don’t have them up here, a few weeks ago when I was in Lincolnshire they were everywhere, the 2 lads I was out with don’t shoot them, I couldn’t get my head around that
  4. That’s some cannon that, looking forward to seeing some pheasant action in the coming weeks ?
  5. All hail the legend that is Bernard Sausage ?? great to see you back, hope you are well and stick around for the game season with your front stuffer action ?
  6. You may of mentioned it once or twice, don’t worry, I’ve made up for your shortcomings by owning 2 of them ? when I put my first application in, it was just for .22lr ( because that’s all I had experience of ) and was granted almost straight away, a few months later I wanted something for fox and a lad I knew said you want a .243. So put in for that and got it, an FEO at the time said are you going to use it for deer, I said no, he said tell them you are and they will give you it ( different times) quite recently I know someone who applied and was refused, with no reason given, when
  7. I’ve just been having a look at reloading gear, my heads hurting now ?
  8. I’ve never bothered with rolling my own, I know a few that do but it was always a geek thing years ago, now it’s a financial thing and something I’m going to have to take a look at
  9. That’s crazy, the last one I bought were £13 for 50, normally where I was at today stocks Hornady, Winchester, Remington and CCI in .17hmr, he said all they have had in the last 2 months was 2000 Hornady that lasted a day, I’ve just had a look online and locally to me they have all gone up, some by as much as £5 a box
  10. Autumn has finally arrived, the leaves are on the turn and although it was still 10 degrees when I got to the shoot at 8:45 this morning there was definitely a noticeable change in the weather, the birds at the forestry pen are still not straying to far, which is a first for here as normally it’s a nightmare keeping them, as for Gordon’s pen, Jesus, that lot are off roost and out for the day, when I got into the yard and looked out over the back field there was easily 150 birds on it, luckily they seem to know where they live and according to the old girl they head back towards the pen around
  11. Forgot to mention, although the .22lr can be used in certain situations for fox, you can not use it as a reason for wanting the grant of a .22lr, it’s not a recognised fox calibre
  12. This is very true, especially with the.17hmr, the other night I took a head shot at a rabbit around 80ish yards, taking an eye out, the rabbit ran and luckily it was towards me so it got another one in the body, there’s nothing worse than a shot going wrong and an injury not an instant death, no matter what the animal when I started doing this ( I’m not that old ) all the lads that used to take me out only had .22lr and they would shoot anything with them, using them at a sensible range and good shot placement they will kill anything, you need to realise that a hollow point round
  13. It really is just a lottery depending on the force, a lot of it comes down to the suitability of your land and being able to provide a good reason for the calibre you want, I’m lucky that my FEO is really helpful and I’ve got the pheasant shoot that’s cleared for any calibre
  14. Let me see if I can answer some of this for you, please note this is just my opinion, I don’t prefer one over the other, they both have a place in my cabinet and are used for different shooting situations, for example, last night I was on a rabbit job and knowing the land the .17hmr was the rifle to use due to the distances I’d be shooting, I also shot a fox with it while I was out and although it’s not the ideal fox rifle it is capable if used correctly, there is some FEO’s that will not grant the.17hmr for fox ( mine does ) and none will say the .22lr is suitable for fox but in some situatio
  15. 3 kids tell me you are spending to much time in the house ?
  16. I’m not a big drinker so at 8.2% it’s got a bit of a kick to it for me, nice though ?
  17. Yeah, the fuel thing is mental, people are idiots, there’s a shortage of drivers, not fuel, I’m really glad I went out because I really didn’t want to, but that’s always how it goes, you can’t shoot anything sat in the house ?
  18. I got a phone call this afternoon from the farmer at the sheep farm asking if I’d go and sort the rabbits out on the small farm next door ( chicken johns) I thought I really can’t be arsed to go up to shoot half a dozen rabbits but as I’m the only person allowed to shoot up here and I don’t want anyone else on here I thought I’d better go, so getting 2 of the most hated bit of shooting kit out, the HMR and the NiteSite ( HMR because I can shoot right across the field with it and it’s very accurate and the NiteSite because it works really well for rabbit shooting, just mount it on the trigger s
  19. Love pigeon, never had it in burgers ?
  20. Cottage pie today and a bit of veg, gravy made while making the cottage pie ?
  21. My best attempt at a chicken bhuna, with my limited cooking skills, used chilli’s from the father in law, they brought a bit of colour to my cheeks ?
  22. It can’t be me, if I was anymore laid back I’d fall over ?
  23. Yeah, she drives but they think it’s certain situations that make it happen, really stressful situations or pain, it’s called vasovagal syncope but as far as I know there’s no test to diagnose it It’s exactly like the goats ? it’s stress that makes them do it
  24. She’s ok mate, she’s known for passing out, she’s had loads of tests and they don’t know why she does it, it’s becoming less frequent over the years but the injuries are getting worse, broken nose, broken fingers, broken elbow, it will get to a point where they won’t be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again
