    The missus would have a chicken dinner every Sunday, I’d prefer a good chunk of moo, but as long as it’s followed up with something like ginger cake and custard I’ll make do

    Your bog standard chicken dinner today I’ve also done a ginger cake, lemon cake and there’s a plain vanilla sponge in the oven for her, if it ain’t beige she ain’t eating it

    We start the first Saturday in November and then every other Saturday after that, we don’t shoot between Christmas and New Year and the way the dates fall this year I would guess we’ll do the 4th/18th November 2nd/16th of December the every Saturday in January so the guns get the full 8 days we normally do, it used to work a lot better when we did a few week days, but we’ve got to many kids in it now and with peoples work commitments a few could miss out on half the season

    Hopefully if I manage the drive’s right and the shoot captain doesn’t let them go mental early in the season it should lead to some consistent numbers throughout the season, I’d be happy if we could do 50/60 bird days rather than 100+ for the first couple then trying to keep the numbers up for the rest of the season

    Basically nothing, when you could sell them to the game dealer they did about a pound each, now you can’t do that, that’s why the small shoots are better because all the guns, beaters and guests are happy to take them, my shoot has an income of £10,000 per season and there’s very little left at the end of it. When you could sell them it used to put a bit back in the pot for pen repairs and the likes, still, you can go to a butcher’s near me and they are between 8/12 quid dressed

    Chicken and veg pie with new spuds, cavolo nero and a champagne sauce not as posh as it sounds, used instead of white wine, and I used lady petrol ( Prosecco)

    They are doing well, they were very flighty when the went in but have settled down well, they are eating a lot of food as you would expect from a 1000, but they are staying in and around the pen for now, unlike last year when I was chasing them back to the pens from day one

    Any good, seen it in Asda, keep meaning to give it a go helped myself to 4 of these out of my brothers garage earlier when I popped round to pick something up, absolute dish water ( but free )

    it’s the cost and who we are working for wants them removed and next door doesn’t (lol) and you can’t take half out, for the sake of loosing 6” I’d put a stud up in front of them

    Never seen anything like this before, working on a semi bungalow and the adjoining wall has 2 oil takes built into the wall, one for this property and one for next door, you can see the tanks from both sides, they wanted it removing but it is structural and supports a flat roof with brickwork built on top of them, it’s a big job to remove them and cost, something for both sides to think about

    I always take the work when it’s there, because one day it might not be, it’s a shame a lot of the young’uns aren’t like that, the amount we’ve had that want a few quid and manage a day before rapping is ridiculous, I’ve given up asking now and just do it myself

    Sausage and mash with a shallot gravy, I’d of liked to of left the shallots chopped, like proper onion gravy, but she won’t eat it like that so has to be wizzed up, says she doesn’t like onions but they go in almost everything I cook, she’s a strange one

    All timbers cut and fitted, he didn’t trust me to box out for the velux so he did that, must of thought I’d worn my tape measure out doing everything else, anyway, another skill learned today

    I know, but come on, they are bloody rabbits, most normal people keep them in a hutch and don’t get their husband to build them their own shed and are 8 not 38 ( by the way, I wouldn’t say this to her )

    I haven’t had that for years, I used to love that neon green stuff my nanna used to get from the pop man when I was a kid

    Laminate flooring in the rabbits shed, don’t ask, I don’t know why, she’s mental and I just want a quiet life ( lol )
