    I’ve tried pimping her out a few times but she becomes too expensive once my fees are applied

    I keep it in the family, and employ the mother-in-law, she comes every Friday, it’s amazing what a 70 year old can get done in a couple of hours, it’s a pleasure to come home on a Friday afternoon, she’s worth every penny of the 25 quid wages ( gave her a fiver, pay rise because of the cost of living crisis)

    I put fresh in, I use 500g of brambles every time, when I get them I put them in 500g bags and freeze them, if you haven’t picked any the ones from the supermarket are just as good, tastes miles better than sloe gin, even better if you mix it with Prosecco

    If like me you like a cold glass of Pinot whilst watching antiques roadshow on a Sunday evening, I can highly recommend this, it’s very dry ( how I like it ) and slightly acidic, I’ll normally only have one one a school night but I might go another small one

    I only have one meal on a Sunday, so I make it a good’un, I’m out now dropping my mam’s off and cake for the mother-in-law, while the missus is on the sofa in a food coma

    Few Jonny Smiths tonight also filtering the first of the bramble gin and starting the next one off

    Went down to Helmsley after feeding pheasants with the missus, got a bag of chips and sat in the square, didn’t want any tea but just got a peckish on, so chucked tomatoes, peppers, onions and garlic in the oven, wizzed them up, bit of chorizo and some pasta, lovely

    Yeah, I know him and his missus, I bumped into her in Helmsley today, lovely people. they are good friends of my landlady, he’s a proper Yorkshire lad

    I think it’s the sinnington hunt and there’s Ampleforth beagles, I don’t have anything to do with them now because one year they came through our land the day before we were to shoot without permission and my landlady went mental and kicked them off, they turned up at the farm with a tray of eggs as compensation for her ( lol ) there’s a fallow about, but forestry batter them, I was watching a small group of about 8 last night

    Stopped off on the way home from the shoot to have a look around Bylands abbey, stunning 12th century abbey, amazing just how perfect the stonework is and that it was done with basic hand tools almost 900 years ago

    Was asked to put the little sleeper wall in seen as I got it cleared so quick, god knows where he got the sleepers from, some of them were so bent if I chucked them away they would of come back, borrowed one of them battery chainsaws, they are a cracking bit of kit

    Just ripping out for a patio and driveway for someone today, said he’s put me down for 3 days, I’m about done, couple of hours on Friday and two grab load’s away, to be fair I’ve pulled my puddings out today and I’m knackered I noticed the old boy next doors having a fight with a flat tyre on his car so i hopped the fence and put his spare on for him, rang my mate at the tyre place and sent him down there, he kept trying to give me 20 quid which I refused, so when he came back from my mates he brought me some flowers he had cut from his garden, they really just don’t make people like tha

    Finished the winter turn out pen off today, the woman I’m working for came out with a cup of tea earlier and her hand was all strapped up, I asked what she had done, apparently a horse bit her yesterday so she punched it and broke her hand, I was nervous giving her my invoice ( lol )

    Beef dinner for the 3 of us, sat listening to how all men are bast*rds, maybe if you could do a dinner like me, you wouldn’t be getting divorced ( lol )

    Cornbeef pie/pasty type thing done, ready for baits for the next couple of days

    I didn’t know that about sugar, my Indian friend always said that in hot curries like vindaloo and phaal you have to use a toddy type vinegar so it gives a sourness and takes the edge off the chilli powder while still keeping its heat, I’m not a fan of them, I can do a vindaloo at a push, had a phaal once an thought I was going to die ( lol )

    Lemon loaf done, corn beef pie in the oven, beef and gravy done, she’s invited her mate for dinner, so that’s 3 dinners here, 1 plated and dropped off for my mam, cake dropped off for the mother-in-law then baits made for me and her for work tomorrow, so much for Sunday being a day of rest

    Chicken curry made from my Indian mate’s recipe, now I can do proper North Indian but Jesus them Serrano chilli’s are hot, maybe a bit less next time
