Well it was looking like a boring evening, just had a phone call from a mate telling me there’s rabbits and hares all over the place ? ( farmer’s millions) so a trip out with the HMR is on the cards now, he said he’s sick of chasing people off the front fields so he wants them gone, not sure how I’m going to explain to the hares that they will be ok if they stay on the back fields away from the road ?

well he [BANNED TEXT]t tothe ground i had opposite his and told them he would control the moles for them and any other vermin free of charge ifthey gave him exclusive access to the ground for fox anddeer. All the feeders and drinkers gathered up, all the rubbish around the pens cleaned away and 32 cartridges picked up on my travels, even though I tell them to take them home with them?seen about 40 pheasants, half a dozen partridges and 7 deer of different makes, spring is definitely here ?

Preparation for next weeks time off, 15kg of carrots for the fallow ( 2 doe’s have just passed me on the track over the piggeries) 10 rabbits for baiting the hedge backs for fantastic mr fox and the last of the wheat for the birds, spring is definitely here, it’s perfect up here today, a light breeze and not a cloud in the sky ?

Finished in 2 days, where the other bloke got nearly 2 weeks and 1400 quid from I have no idea, the old boy is over the moon and has asked me to put some rabbit fencing around his raised beds tomorrow and would I shoot the rabbits on his 70 acres of land, everyone’s a winner ?

There’s loads of work, I’ve just been and priced a patio, put a quote in for what I thought was a bit to much, she said yes there and then, turns out I was 1200 quid cheaper than the next quote, not sure when I’m going to fit it in ?

105 stepping stones across the grass to the pond and a armillary sundial in the middle, I’m glad I got to do this for the old dears because someone else had quoted almost 2 weeks and 1400 quid to do it, I quoted 2 days and I’m still making good money from it, it fu*ks me off that some people think that because they have a few quid it’s ok to try and mug as much out of them as you can

He seems to be able to talk me round Dave, as if it’s going to be better this time, but never fails to let me down, at least he never went full auto this time firing off rounds all over the place, after I said “ you missed” in my disappointed voice, he said “put a vixen call on, see if it comes back out” ? the speed it ran off, it would be to far away to hear it, never mind, he’s only made my job harder, I like a challenge ?

I give up with him. I went up to the shoot tonight with the lad who has served many a fox shooting ban, didn’t see anything over the piggeries so went to the bottom of the farm field, caller out for 5 minutes and a fox came in to our left, he got on his dog sh*t quad sticks and the fox clocked him and headed back towards the oak wood, I stopped it with a quick go on the caller and he rattled his sticks a bit more and took a shot, straight over the top of it, off it went flat out into the wood, I could happily snap them bloody sticks

So I was at a bit of a loose end this afternoon as the missus was invited to a party ( I don’t get invited to party’s) so I thought I’d have a late afternoon up at my mates place for a doe, I got there about 5 and set off what I would call the wrong way around the land with the intention of getting to the wood for about 6. Not seeing anything until I got to the wood I glassed a doe along the wood side, it was a long way off so I set off up the wood side, getting to about 600 yards from it I got the thermal out to have a look up the wood to see if there was anything there that would give me awa

A quick walk out with longshanx around his spot tonight, not much about, seen a few deer and managed a couple of rabbits for dog food and a hare for longshanx food, back home to collect my venison from last week, all jointed, vac packed and frozen by longshanx ? he’s a good egg
