Last monday I dug a terrier bitch to a beaver. She did her job well and I was proud of her. I have kept a close check on her ever since keeping her in the living room. This morning she had swelling between her eyes.So it was off to the vet.The vets office was crowded with people with overweight dogs. They all stared at my bitch giving me the evil eye. When I got in the back the vet said she had never treated a beaver cut.So I gave her a 10 minute course on the subject. She was fascinated by the fact there was a dog alive crazy enough to catch a beaver lol. Hate to hear this wolf dog. I wouldnt say anything.Around new years,The suspect would hop in his truck and turn the heat on.As the truck warms up he would find a lively few cottonmouths was riding with him.As the man is obviously a coward I'm sure he will jump from the truck.

Out of likes but I agree.Especially about the fat.Sleddog men agree. So did the bulldog men of the 90's.American veterinarians would disagree with us because they get paid by kibble companies.I dont tell Americans what I feed as I may be labeled a witch and burned at the stake. As you know you can't reason with Yankees.

Tonight's feed. Pink canned salmon,Hearts, venison, chickenfeet and a little orijen. In case you are wondering my own supper will be leftover pizza.

Appreciate all the responses as this subject fascinates me. The first time I seen a pack of english fox hounds they were gorgeous.I asked the Englishman what he fed to make his dogs look like that.He said tripe.I said what else? He said more tripe.lol To this day those were the best looking dogs I've seen. One thing that every diet mentioned in a positive way on this thread has in common.Fat adaption.Meaning the dogs primary energy source is fat instead of carbs. I was getting deer meat from my grannies freezer when I was a teenager. My granny asked me what I did with all that me

I've wasted hundreds of hours studying canine nutrition. It is an obsession. The other day I had an epiphany. If a man could live on an island surrounded be sheep and seafood he could consistently produce superior working canines. Now where would a man find such an island? The British isles have produced more working dogs than anywhere.Could a big key to this success simply be you had access to the perfect nutrition for a working dog? I can't cook but make some decent dog grub. For any of yall who want to toss up a picture of what your feeding.I would appreciate it.

Leave the mods alone and get outdoors?Pics from your walk ?
Rickshaw swami replied to Greyman's topic in General Talk
Went back to the creek today. When I started walking I could smell crawfish in the air.The hairs on my neck stood up.I knew there was an otter somewhere upstream. After a couple hour walk I was at one of my best spots. There was the otter. He was going upstream to my next best spot.I knew I had to convince him to come back.An American dog otter has two weaknesses. His vision and his arrogance.I stood still in the creek and squalled like a coon. The otter came back like a torpedo looking for a fight.I stood still. He finally got close enough he could smell me and knew he -

I've always had an obsession with wanting to know what's around the next creekbend.Left the truck walking yesterday before sunup.Stepped on a snapping turtle round about daylight.Scared him as bad as me. Walked the train track a few hours. Osprey top of dead tree. Eventually I reached part of the creek I hadn't walked. It was too steep to walk down.Luckily I had planned ahead.I had a rope and collapsible trekking pole in my backpack.Tied the rope to a No Trespassing sign and made my way down. I wasn't sure if my efforts would be rewarded. Landed -

A terrier of course.lol.I had to remind my daughter in the hospital that the only reason I have any decent terriers was because an old man gifted her a pup when she was 1 year old. I should be able to give my granddaughter a great great niece of the same pup my daughter was gifted next fall.Having grown up with terriers my daughter isnt as happy about it as I am.

Considering your disrespectful mouth about every subject it would be very wise for you to stay out of a country where every redneck has a gun in his pocket.Bless your Heart. R.I.P. Mr Kirk

Ive never been much of a sports fan.I can remember renting videos as a kid of Royce Gracie fighting in some of the first UFC fights back in early nineties. Last night I watched the Bristol Brawl BKB 45.I had never watched bare knuckle boxing before.I loved it.I couldnt understand a word those Englishmen were saying but it felt right to me.Like 2 good Gamecocks shuffling. Anyone else see it or know much about this?

I enjoyed yalls posts of taking others out fishing.I dont take many people to my good creeks but yesterday I took a friend along.I wanted him to have a memorable day.Hes a very experienced bass fishermen so I knew it would be a hard order to fill. We left the truck at daylight.Started catching Spotted bass immediately We fished upstream for 8 hours.Catching bass on every stick, rock or truck tire in the creek.I took a 6 foot fall off a rock ledge around lunch.Bruised me up but nothing was broken.Kept on fishing. When we made it to the last hole of the day I was exhaus -

I've always been fascinated by the different tools I have seen different people use. From chainsaws to backwards bent pitchforks. When I'm digging fox or groundhog I use traditional tools. In the swamps in a kayak different rules apply.I need lightweight disposable tools designed for digging roots in between trees.I just replaced some of my tools for the start of the season. Went to hardware store. I put a square hook in the end of the industrial broomstick. This walking stick helps me get up and down muddy banks by hooking tree roots. It can also be used as a chew toy for a

Wild Camping, Hiking, Back pack, Tent talk, Mini camper etc.......
Rickshaw swami replied to hawki's topic in General Talk
Took a few camping trips this summer. Back in May I decided to try to pack as light a backpack as possible so I could walk with my camping gear on my back and fish on the move in the sipsey Wilderness.. When I found some whitewater I knew I would camp here. My first attempt at ultralight camping was a success. June and July the rivers was flooded or it was 100 farenheit. This past Monday we had unusually cold weather. So I skipped work and left out in the kayak.Caught some good smallmouth. When I'm camping in this area I tie my kayak -
What's best wormer and flea stuff for dogs ?
Rickshaw swami replied to vfr400boy's topic in General Talk
Bravecto gets my vote for house dogs. As far as the discussion of wormers there's more to it than meets the eye.At least as it applies to Alabama. Active ingredient : Brand name Fenbendazole: panacur, safeguard Treats hookworm, roundworm, whipworm In order to treat whipworm you need appropriate dosage for 3 days in a row.I have also used fenbendazole for the treatment of coccidia. I have been told by several veterinarians and vet techs that fenbendazole is the easiest for worms to build an immunity to. My old hogdog vet mixed pyrantel promoate with panacur to p -
Being Scots Irish decent I find these talks of yalls very interesting on these subjects.Through random topics on Thl I have come to understand where our beliefs in the hills of Alabama come from. Thanks yall for sharing.Very interesting to me. Scots Irish I believe yall call Ulster Scots basically built and settled the Appalachian Mountains from North Alabama to West Virginia. From Daniel Boone to General Nathan Bedford Forrest.I now understand why I never met a white Catholic until I was 20 years old.I now understand why the original Klan founded by Scots Irish forbid Catholics. Not looking
