Well...I'm seriously impressed if you could only see 20 yards and took this at 38 yards :thumbs-up:

A pal has just bought a Tracer Max with on/off, no dimmer. I was out with him on Thursday and its not bad, build quality is not great but a decent beam. I can get a Unit, Mains Charger, dimmer switch, 7AH battery and belt bag, car charger, scope mount, for just over £100 (colour filters available extra)..... Anyone any comments overall/value for money/reliability etc. Many thanks!

I use a 2d cell maglite mounted on my scope using bisley scope mounts the 2dcell battaries last around 3hrs but have a second pair "if required" I have found this quite a good set up and theres no hassle of wires or batt packs on my person. I can only comment from experience and find this bit of kit compact and precise to my needs I use it on my dedicated rifle for lamping the BSA Ultra .22 and have had numerouse results from it as I say I can only comment on what I have used and this suits me to the ground youy can have a look if you like on www.freewebs.com/nightcrawlerslodge/ in my guns se

Out for a couple of hours late this afternoon with the .223 after the Muntjac and fox, saw 2 Deer, just after they saw me and no Fox (loads of Pheasants...cocky b*****S, they know the season is over) and 1 Squirrel. It ran off behind a rotting log pile, now... my very nice region has given me "small ground game and vermin" (on top of the rest) for my .223. Mr Squirrel thought he was hiding but forgot about the end of his tail...so a bit of adjustment and a shot clean through the log pile...one very surprised and dead squirrel...first for me like this as well! Strange old afternoon!

I had just about saved up enough pennies for the Hunter version 2 or 3 years back when they released the Quad. To say I was upset was an understatement, no doubt a marketing (money) decision but the Finnfire is an excellent tool in Hunter, Varmint and Range....why oh why was it discontinued????

OK...I watched some of the first episode and have avoided it since, just seen the end of the latest episode......this has the makings of a fun show... .....problem is nobody either looks or sounds like the person they are meant to be......we must be able to do better than this!!! I can' believe how bad this is....

I'm with John on this one, never heard this about any of the 3 finnfires. But I too have heard the odd comment about the quad! Cheers Deker

Been a good start to the year for me Fox wise, this was the 5th I took in January! Took the tail off this one just after the picture, first one, earlier in the month is being salted and this one is now in the meths (F**k me - I thought meths was a cheap alternative to alcohol!)....will be interesting to see the final results of each! Weekend with Outshooting Latest Edit Plus More pics
Deker replied to Deker's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Hi Everyone This is a quick write up and lots of extras and editing will take place before the article is ready (edited several times already), anyway thought you may like a quick look. My lad is sending me some more pictures from the day so hopefully I will be able to put one or two more up soon. Also shot wise, yep.. I can't go wrong can I...if my lad makes the best shot it's because Dad taught him well, frankly I was very impressed with Lees very long range free standing rabbit at the end of the night.....anyway..enough of the mutual appreciation society.....it was great weekend. -
Last Weekend of the Season (For Much) The invite came in early December and eventually the day itself had arrived An early start, not something I relish, but a 207 mile trip to the boundary of Devon and Cornwall lay ahead with a quick stop in Swindon to collect my lad Miles (and have a cuppa). It was dark of course, but as the motorway miles passed the dawn brought a bright crisp start and a clear trip followed all the way! We arrived shortly before 11.00am and met up with Lee; my old friend and host for the weekend; we would have been there earlier except for the Sat Nav trying

Underkeepers Job
Deker replied to mj.rampton's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
You are probably getting some response but who are you, what is the estate...your profile is empty and this is your first post. Can you fill in a little more background for everyone please. Cheers Deker -
The spacing on the mil dots does not equate to the spacing on the other reticules the program is designed to work with, so it will not work. Best idea is to simply try the scope out in the field with appropriate ammo and check mil dots. Remember this program is only an approximation anyway, long/short barrels, barrel condition, variations of ammo from manufacturer to manufacturer, weather, atmospheric pressure, etc etc will all effect the flight path. The program is useful but don't stake you life on it, whatever it says you need to check in the field!

Cleaning any and all guns and barrels is important but different for many, and everyone will have their own take on it. In the case of the .17HMR you have a small hole and some quite fast projectiles which tend to have a copper coat. This will leave a copper and propellent residue in the barrel and around the breech/bolt area. To maintain a good barrel, prolong its life and keep it accurate you will need to clean it. A bore snake will not do this by itself, they were only ever designed as a "quick fix" out in the field until you can do the job properly (and if my memory serves me c

Darcy I fully agree......but....is it legal to release them? Would love to drop her right in the sh1t as shes quite high on local council and also on the National (mis)Trust with whom I have big issues over their stance on stag hunting. Would be great to be able to show that one of their head honchos was breaking law!!! The Fox is deemed as a native species and it is therefore legal to release them. The likes of the Grey squirrel, etc etc which are non native cannot be released into the wild. There is also nothing illegal about a fox "sanctuary" as long as it complies with all

Hi Snelly ...the moderator....blast residue seems to be coming out of the joint at the front..have you had it apart..perhaps it was just not tightened up enough during manufacturer. Either that or maybe you have been firing into a very strong wind! Cheers i have a sak and it does the same thing mate. the blast residue leaks out the front and back abit. no matter how tight you do it up. i dont use it anymore as i have a dm80 now on mine. the hmr does burn the inside of the sak abit after alot of use. but i found it done a good job on the hmr. but not up to the same build as the dm8

I use a .177 11.6ftlb and i can regularly head shot stuff from 5 to 50 yrd's so im guessing with a 26ftlb you will be able to double your distance as long as the wind is calm.. Millet Distance is another whole Hornets nest of debate (arguement)! Personally I would suggest 50yards with a 12ft lb .177 is a good shot! At 26ft lb with a .177 you are not looking to shoot at 100yards, I would suggest in normal circumstances 50 or 60 yards maybe. My PCP in .22 does actually run at 26ft lb and I have it zeroed at 40 yards, I can easily push that to 50 and sometimes 60 yards with con

Hello mate! First you need to get in contact with your nearest police station and ask them to send you out some FAC application forms. Then arange to have a meeting with your local FO ( firearms officer). He will help you through all the forms and advise you what to do. The police are genearlly more leneant towards FAC air rifles than rimfire. As they are less likely to have a huge over travel if you miss your target. I have a FAC air rifle in .177 and to be honest it isnt worth the decreased shots per charge of air. You would be better of going for a .22 rimfire, i also found it easyer

Deker, it is the same rifle i have used, he is selling it because hes getting on a bit nd doesnt really want the long nights lamping anymore which is why he has been taking me out with him sort of train me up to take over. it has a sling, no bipod, and hes giving me 40 odd rounds of ammo. from what i can find out the scope was around £70 new. im not sure what mod it is it cost him £50 new. if £500 is too much what do think i should start negotiating at? thanks ss06 Hi 'sportingshooter06' Ok this is a difficult one, and I can't tell you what to do as I don't know the wh

Side by side or Over and under??
Deker replied to Elmerfudd's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Any advantage or otherwise is almost entirely in the mind of the user. Grip tends to be a bit different (fairly obvious) and far more O/U are made these days giving a wider choice. The most important thing is get a gun that fits and is still tight. With £300 you are not going to get a top make/gun but there is plenty of choice of very useable guns at this price.
