  1. TDR 40 shots per charge Carbine shots per charge Classic 100 shots per charge If you intend to work in confined space and want a kit gun get the TDR If you intend to lean out a car window all the time (very few really do) get the Carbine For all normal tasks get the Classic. I have heard good and bad about them all except the Classic, and I have only heard good about that! ATB Deker
  2. Rules for prospective boyfriends of dads with teenage daughters Daddy's Daughter - Rules for the boyfriends Rule One: If you pull into my driveway and honk you'd better be delivering a package, because you're sure not picking anything up. Rule Two: You do not touch my daughter in front of me. You may glance at her, so long as you do not peer at anything below her neck. If you cannot keep your eyes or hands off of my daughter's body, I will remove them. Rule Three: I am aware that it is considered fashionable for boys of your age to wear their trousers so loosely that they
  3. I was going to say Jack H right up front but thought very few of the yougsters would have heard of him. A master of communication in all things country with no political agenda. A tribute to him that so many still remember. He must be the man!
  4. Times are (have) changed at BSA! BSA have historically made some good reliable workhorse guns but what does Gamo say to you?
  5. Hi John I don't usually get high numbers of Fox, maybe 10-20 a year so 5 in January is a lot for me (in 2007 I actually got more deer than fox). Could be there are a lot about so it may end up a big year! The tails are interesting, never done one before this year and now a couple of people want them! Cheers
  6. Certainly looks the part if you are after the Varmint. Don't really understand the problem with this one, in theory a gun like this should last a "lifetime". We could go on forever about this..is it all ammo it has a problem with, I know some stuff like the CCI 40g subs are a bit tight up the throat which could cause some grief but this should still be able to pull everything out! On the other hand I recently bought the CZ Silhouette, well about a year ago, cracking gun all round! But I still want a Finnfire Hunter! Hope it all works out for you. Cheers
  7. Cracking gun but the Varmint had the heavy barrel, I'm a bit of a wimp and want the Hunter, lighter barrel. Shame if this one has a problem, certainly unusual as the build quality is very good. GMK are the Sako importers and can fix anything ...well so they say...could be worth a word with them before you write this one off! Cheers
  8. From that list a BSA Super10. The bottom line is it is almost impossible to select, it will be down to individual choice. What are you after ...rats, birds, rabbits? BSA S10 should deliver as close to 12ft lb as you can get, but so would most of the others. First choices OFF list: First Theoben R7 Joint second AA S410 (Not Carbine) Joint second Falcon RS 19
  9. You will have a pretty wide choice for that budget, possibly the best place to have a look is Guntrader.co.uk
  10. RS If you have found a Finnfire that fails to eject I suspect it does have a problem as the Finnfire does not suffer from this as far as I'm aware, it is only the Quad..they are different guns! Put it like this, if I could find a brand new Finnfire Hunter or a mint used one I would snap it up, but I'm not interested in a Quad. Cheers
  11. Am I getting confused, the Finnfire which is discontinued is excellent (IMHO) but I have reservations about the Quad. Just my view! If you can find a new Finnfire (just possible but unlikely), or a good used one (people tend to hang on to them) I recon you are on a winner! Cheers Deker
  12. Well...I'm seriously impressed if you could only see 20 yards and took this at 38 yards :thumbs-up:
  13. A pal has just bought a Tracer Max with on/off, no dimmer. I was out with him on Thursday and its not bad, build quality is not great but a decent beam. I can get a Unit, Mains Charger, dimmer switch, 7AH battery and belt bag, car charger, scope mount, for just over £100 (colour filters available extra)..... Anyone any comments overall/value for money/reliability etc. Many thanks!
  14. I use a 2d cell maglite mounted on my scope using bisley scope mounts the 2dcell battaries last around 3hrs but have a second pair "if required" I have found this quite a good set up and theres no hassle of wires or batt packs on my person. I can only comment from experience and find this bit of kit compact and precise to my needs I use it on my dedicated rifle for lamping the BSA Ultra .22 and have had numerouse results from it as I say I can only comment on what I have used and this suits me to the ground youy can have a look if you like on www.freewebs.com/nightcrawlerslodge/ in my guns se
  15. Out for a couple of hours late this afternoon with the .223 after the Muntjac and fox, saw 2 Deer, just after they saw me and no Fox (loads of Pheasants...cocky b*****S, they know the season is over) and 1 Squirrel. It ran off behind a rotting log pile, now... my very nice region has given me "small ground game and vermin" (on top of the rest) for my .223. Mr Squirrel thought he was hiding but forgot about the end of his tail...so a bit of adjustment and a shot clean through the log pile...one very surprised and dead squirrel...first for me like this as well! Strange old afternoon!
  16. I had just about saved up enough pennies for the Hunter version 2 or 3 years back when they released the Quad. To say I was upset was an understatement, no doubt a marketing (money) decision but the Finnfire is an excellent tool in Hunter, Varmint and Range....why oh why was it discontinued????
  17. OK...I watched some of the first episode and have avoided it since, just seen the end of the latest episode......this has the makings of a fun show... .....problem is nobody either looks or sounds like the person they are meant to be......we must be able to do better than this!!! I can' believe how bad this is....
  18. I'm with John on this one, never heard this about any of the 3 finnfires. But I too have heard the odd comment about the quad! Cheers Deker
  19. Be amazed everyone....how about this then, MarkI ...many thanks to a very clever man by the name of Fubar! The MarkII version is in production in Stainless and Brass! Works of art! Picture copyright Sheridan 2/2008
  20. Been a good start to the year for me Fox wise, this was the 5th I took in January! Took the tail off this one just after the picture, first one, earlier in the month is being salted and this one is now in the meths (F**k me - I thought meths was a cheap alternative to alcohol!)....will be interesting to see the final results of each! Cheers Deker

  24. Hi Foxdropper Yep... Deer at night but only looking ....didn't touch, I've edited things to make that a little clearer. Cheers
  25. Hi Everyone This is a quick write up and lots of extras and editing will take place before the article is ready (edited several times already), anyway thought you may like a quick look. My lad is sending me some more pictures from the day so hopefully I will be able to put one or two more up soon. Also shot wise, yep.. I can't go wrong can I...if my lad makes the best shot it's because Dad taught him well, frankly I was very impressed with Lees very long range free standing rabbit at the end of the night.....anyway..enough of the mutual appreciation society.....it was great weekend.
