Ok ...this was an interesting question to start with....I have never used any lube so I am interested to know what it really achieves, is it worth the effort, does it put the power up, barrel cleaning, accuracy, cost..all the bits.., can you throw a bit more light on this whole pellet lube business for me and markieboi. Many thanks Deker

Hi Not like me to rush in but I took the 1" group thing as a comment about the need to know, and be accurate with your gun before you hunt quarry, rather than necessarily a statement of fact about kill zones. Anyway..just the way I read it perhaps, but as I'm experienced and reighn22 obviously isn't perhaps expressing it in a slightly different way would have been better. No arguement about your second para above though! Cheers Deker

Technicalities of the wording....you cannot go out and buy one until you are 17. It is possible that someone else can buy you one with certain control conditions at a younger age!

Most Police Authorities have their own website. Some are very good, others are terrible but I suggest you look up yours and then look up the firearms section, a bit of digging will tell you everything you need to know. If you are really having a problem look up the Thames Valley Police, their site is very good for info on firearms/shotguns. Cheers Deker

Good going..the lightning is a good bit of kit. Are you really on Shetland...what else is actually on the Islands to shoot? Cheers Deker

Thanks for taking the time to help guys..I did appreciate it was to do with the silly season but the dates for male/female of the Roe still don't seem to add up in the same way as the other species, especially the Buck. Perhaps its more to do with actual control/commercialism rather than parenting. Thanks for the help. Cheers Deker

This has gone through my mind several times over the years so who can help please.....The question is....why, when all the females have virtually identical seasons is the Roe Buck season so different to all the other males? CWD who have only just had a season introduced, they have the Buck at a slightly different time to all the other males as well. England/Wales/N Ireland Red Stags Aug 1st - April 30th Hinds Nov 1st - March 31st Fallow Bucks Aug 1st - April 30th Does Nov 1st - March 31st Sika Stags Aug 1st - April 30th Hinds Nov 1st - March 31st R

OK this one is a complete minefield and there are differences between England/Wales and Scotland. Sorry if you are in NI or Ireland I don't have the details. This is never going to be easy so please don't complain, there is a lot to it and I suggest you read it a couple of times. First off, and in principle there are little or no restrictions on night shooting of vermin, Game is where all the interesting stuff comes in. 1880 Ground Game Act. 1906 Amendment Act. Game consists of Deer, hares, pheasants, partridges, grouse, heath or moor game, black game, woodcock, rabbit and snipe.

A £30 scope, including mounts...well.... in this day and age it should work and probably be a lot better than most would think ...but......

"to show that I’m safe and trustworthy?" A risk assessment in these circumstances will relate very largeley to the environment, neighbours, backstops, pellet travel etc etc, your personal competance will only form a small part of it! A well prepared Risk Assessment will show your professionalism, and tell them far more about you than writing pages telling them how good you are! Hopefully Roller will be able to help you here but you may also find some more help if you trawl around the web! Cheers Deker

I'm wondering if foxes are telepathic as I have a new .223 rifle to shoot all those foxes Something like that....many will think this is silly but the gun "smells" different if nothing else. The wildlife is NOT stupid, a clay ground I was walking for the first time many years ago was swarming with rabbits, but as my guide said.."walk round here with a shotgun and you will not see one". And where do all the Pheasants dissapear to on the first day of the season. Anyone who has been involved with this "hunting" game for any period of time will have their own tale to tell! Cheers

Bottom line is, regardles of your situation and circumstances and the quarry. Please have some respect, no true hunter wants to injure anything, we ALWAYS kill as quickly as possible...just accept that this is not an appropriate tool for the job and move on. Cheers Deker

Ok.... call me cynical but you obviously know something about shotguns from the question. So...just because it's a trap gun, skeet gun, dtl etc it doesn't mean you cannot shoot game (and many do) Game/Field guns tend to be a bit lighter and have a narrower rib, and are usually 28 or 30 inch barrel. Botton line is, if the gun fits you, you feel comfortable with it then the majority of people can do most things pretty well with any shotgun. Don't believe all the hype...I am guessing you are not interested in entering the Olympics. Cheers Deker

Bracknell is only about 10 miles from me and I have 2 shoots there (although one of them likes to think he is Ascot). And YES, even in Bracknell there are loads of Roe and plenty of Muntjac. Cheers Deker

Deker replied to irishboy's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I'd love to try but I don't understand a word....I'm old and I don't recall this from school Then depending what cal you got...........1 inch high at 100 and bang on at 180..............+- cal 1.5 inch vs cal . Run that by me again in schoolboy terms so I can have a try! Cheers Deker -
How many pages is this going to take to upset loads and achieve nothing...but that is the whole point of freedom and expression, especially in forums such as this. There will always be an incredible diversity of views, cultures opinions and interests. Making it a pay site will not change that and another simple reality of..... "I would pay a fiver or a tenner".... is wait and see how many do when the time comes, support will dwindle, the antis will stay because they want to be "inside": others will pay but does that make their view or opinion any more valid? Loads of peopl

Hello John, that's a bit of an odd question, if you have two scopes why not try both and see which one you prefer. I have a Webley Tomahawk fitted with a Webley 4 x 40, zeroed at 30yds, love the set up. I also have a Weirhauch 35K fitted with a 3-9 x 50, zeroed at 40yds, love the set up. I have a 3-9 x 50 on my rimfire zeroed at 75yds, love the set up. The only person who can set up the scope and decide which is best is you. Experiment and practice. Happy shooting. PS: Let us all know how you get on and if you need further advice just ask. Shooter46 That's about the be

I would recomend that you do just for peace of mind , I don't think you have to have it proofed by law but you wouldn't be able to sell the gun without it being proofed. but if you can get it screw cut and proofed for £40 snatch their hands off. £40 just to screw cut the rifle they said they cant or dont proof them That sound right to me, I do not think it is essential to get it proofed but could be very useful, £40 sounds good to me but I seem to recall Baldie has some figures/input on screw cutting and proofing.
