  1. Well i think foxs are cute, especially cubs,..but what young mammal isnt cute and cuddly?...you havent seen cute till youve seen a mamma skunk and five babies ploding along behind her!...i respect every animal there is,...i also hunt every available animal there is, and it is treated with respect, when alive, and when dead...nowt wrong with having feelings of compassion for the animals that you hunt and admire...its when you STOP having them feelings, that it stops being hunting, and starts being murdering....just my take on it.
  2. imo, its human nature mate,...'what if we did this?', 'shoulda, coulda, woulda',...etc. I think, with the type of work that me and you do, some good solid, old type Staghound, with a smidgen of good Bull blood, is what we need....you just need more dogs, so you can rest the ones you have now!..lol...hopefully, Tor will be hooking you up, later today, or tomorrow brother... Kye,..
  3. Nice post,...funny how some guys thought you wrote it Dan,...having met you, i had no doubt that it was a "cut and paste' job,...lol. Dan, the description of the Irish/Scots Greyhound sound identical to Cotton, Blue, Stitch, Blister and Tor!... Kye,.
  4. Its a hard part of the game mate,...but it happens,...i would rather loose one like that, than hit buy a car, or dying of kidney failure on the sofa when its 12 years old. However, what is upsetting, is when one dosnt make the grade!,...and you have to part ways forever.. Kye,..
  5. What you guys need, is a guy in America, that will REALY test them, on everything, from Raccoon and Coyote, all the way upto Hogs and Bears, and Mt.Lion!...send one over, I'll give one a try, be interesting to see how they do on Yank game.
  6. I bred the dog,...he was out of english gear mate,...very good nose, and talk about "stay"!!!....we just didnt get along in the end, and my yard wasnt big enough for the two of us,... and seems as i pay the mortgage, he had to go.
  7. I have a Stag bitch with no tail..amputated after she broke it. Hasn't affected her hunting in anyway,...her breaking her neck has not helped however!
  8. Maybe improve coat, nose, feet, stamina and more of a willingness to take toothed game?...I'm NOT saying they would be good, just my opinion.
  9. No, I have 2 blacks, 1 chocolate,...
  10. People make fun of such a cross, but people have used russells and bedlingtons to cross to whippets, WHY NOT black digging dogs?...i had a dog that was 31lbs and 17" last season, he would of been good over a greyhound!...good black dogs are normaly much easier to get hold of than quality beddies anyway!?....f**k it, why not use one over a whippet or greyhound!?....
  11. The term "Game" sure is used loosely these days,...im sure they will be nice pups, but calling that Bull, and a WHIPPET Game, seems strange?!....do you mean, "These dogs are great at what i use them for, and have a very high prey drive, the puppies should make the grade with good rearing/feeding/entering"....not having a go at anyone, but using the word Game so readily is crazy. Kye,..
  12. Staghound, Staghound, Staghound,...for me EVERYTIME! Ive seen deerhounds, and there hybrids run, and LOVE them...thats part of why i like a good coat on a Stag, the type just appeals to me....i know one thing, there isnt any derrhound alive that can kill coyotes, draw coon, lamp rabbits, and course hares, hunt and kill fox etc like a GOOD stag!....if there was, we wouldnt have staghounds would we!?!?!...lol. IMO, the REAL staghound IS the Wolf/Deerhound of old....modern stuff is just not upto it...imo, the right stag, to the BEST modern deerhound would be f*****g awesome!... I
  13. Yeah, it would be interesting to see what would happen! Bear/Lion infront of me, me with nowt but a knife or a spear!!! I wonder what I would do? But then again, that's the VERY reason I want to put myself in that situation. People say "Test the dogs, you gotta test the dogs!" Most of them same people won't put there hand up a pipe and tail a possom!..lol. Doc, your right mate!..sure 'aint getting any younger mate, and I hope I can make a trip out your way for a week or two some time!? Maybe I will bring that Ugly f****r, Edwards with me...no doubt he would try and stick a Grizzly with a but
  14. I would only want to do it with the aid of dogs.
  15. Cold Steal masai spear, and there Boar spear are very good. Never eaten Lion, although I would try it. I hope to dispatch a Lion with a knife, and a Bear with a spear, both with the aid of dogs, before I get to old and die.
  16. Whin, guys have killed lion and bears with knifes and spears in the past, present day, and they will in the future, still done quite commonly in the south Americas.
  17. I'd like to put some good stags or bull stags on one and dispatch with a knife, would love a go at that.
  18. If someone your side wanted one, and it was a genuine guy, who understood the old Deerhound type, then I would have no problem letting a pup go back to the UK...
  19. The dog is a Staghound, but I call/use all my dogs "critter-gitters"..lol..I think he's just a good, honest dog, he has lost lots of speed, but seems to get harder as he ages, he is an all time favourite on my yard. In one night session, with Tiff's bitch (called Slag) her and my dog, Blister caught 3 cats, 5 raccoons, and a Coyote. Blister will also catch and carry rabbits alive to hand.
  20. When I was in the UK, I hunted the rabbit mostly, and was very fond of deer, but they where legal then! When I moved to the desert south west of America, I hunted the hare more than anything. Got my first Yank bred dog when I was there,...chased rabbits and hares, the small Gray Fox, coyotes, infact anything, even had a few wild/feral dogs with him. Moved to "middle-america" and here in the mid-west, my main quarry is the raccoon, a animal that is much slower than the Hare, but is much tougher to finish than a Red Fox!...the ground is frozen, it can be -15F with windchill, and the same dog tha
  21. f**k me! That's a while ago mate! That was some lizard!..lol..yeah, these Stags would do well for you mate, I'm sure! Hope they do well for US!!!
  22. Pops, there are dogs out there that you can dump on a yote at 400yards, and they will catch AND kill it! I would just breed from them. Whin, I'm NOT a coyote hunter, I'm just a hunter, I put my dogs on anyhing, and everything! They have done very well on the yotes they have seen, but they are mostly used on other game, single handed. They do well and stay sound, if they didn't, I wouldn't disrespect the guys that bred these dogs before me buy keeping them around! Whin, its great that you've been around, and out and about with lads over here, but no one is ever going to have seen it
  23. Hi guys,.. Can't realy say anymore than what I've said, as its not my place to say!...sorry lads, the dogs used in each situation would of been just at home in the UK working imo.
  24. Honestly guys, the good stags would be just at home lamping ranbbits in 5 5 acre fields, as running game over here, in my exsperiance. All this "taking a couple hundred yards to get into top gear" is bull shit! That's just a shity dog imo!...
  25. Whin,...the dogs took a little, but where ready to go again, in under 10 days,..TRUTH.
