  1. 12 year old whippet bedlington with his daughter I one picture. Still out ferreting twice this weekend in all weathers and still catching!
  2. Know we're your coming from with the ground like concrete! Had a 1ft did the other day and took for ever, grounds harder than at any point over the summer! Sounds like a nice day out though. Atb
  3. Nice write up and pictures mate, looks like some nice permission there. Good open holes not to overgrown. Atb for the rest of the season.
  4. Definitely feel rabbit numbers having been steadily declining for 4/5 years. Used to be able to go to same spots year after year and catch similar numbers, now I find myself carefully selecting which warrens to ferret and trying to not hunt an area to hard to leave plenty for breeding. Never used to have to worry. We would regularly catch 50+ but haven't done at for years now. The only positive is rabbits will find a way I just hope it doesn't take 20 years for them to do it! Good luck finding some rabbits everyone. Atb
  5. Lovely pictures, cracking looking puppy. Have booked a whippet puppy myself for next summer and can't wait, always had lurchers before so looking forward to try a pure whippet. Good luck with your puppy. Atb
  6. I've always used various whippet lurchers, done me proud. Probably best is a first cross whippet bedlington, always seems to just be in the right place. When he was younger had plenty of pace for the job to.
  7. Nice write up. Agree that it's always good just get out and enjoy being outdoors and working your animals. Nice easy warrens just a shame the rabbits weren't bolting. Atb
  8. I know there not cheap but the mklll collars are superb, no messing about the insulation tape and screw tops. They work with the old mkl boxes to. If you can afford it get one replace your broken collar. Atb
  9. Nice pics mate good to see your pup coming on well. Lovely markings. Atb
  10. Agree with what the other posters have said I keep 11 together and they all get on brillliantly. You've 100% done the right thing getting another one as I strongly feel ferrets don't do well on there own very sociable intelligent anilmals that like company. Good luck with them! Atb
  11. Personally love the mk1 but agree with The one it can pick up quite bad interference if you are very close to fence. The mk1's do work with the new collars though which is a bonus as the mk1 collars were crap in my opinion but love the new ones, so easy to turn on and off.
  12. Personally I always keep more than one as I don't think they do well on there own. They are intelligent animals and like company. Hobs would need keeping apart in the summer though. Currently got 11 all in together and they love it! Atb.
  13. Fair play mate that's a great bag. Your lucky to have so many to catch up there, were I am down south the rabbits are very patchy. Just got back from first days ferreting and very disappointed by the lack of activity on a farm that used to be heaving with rabbits. Still dogs loved it. Atb
  14. often find they are best in the second season so don't lose faith if this year is a struggle. Also my hobs always seem to start quicker than the Jill's.
  15. Hi, this is my first post but have enjoyed reading other people's for a while. I keep 11 ferrets and 4 lurchers and work all of them. Down south it's still very warm so struggling to get out but desperate to! Atb to everyone for the coming season. Here's hoping for some frost this year.
