Thanks for the advice, I've got some Danish oil and linseed oil knocking about, i'll test them on some offcuts. I'll have to have a bit of patience with the holly as I only cut some this winter. This stickmaking is a bit addictive always carry a saw on me now and i'm always looking for a likely stick! cheers, rob

Thanks, they look very nice sticks. I've always just used sticks I've found, but I've had some hazel in the shed for over a year now, so i'll give those a go over the summer. Did you oil the holly or use wax?

Thought i'd have a change from hazel, so I've got some holly sticks. I was thinking of taking the bark off some of them, do I strip the bark off now or after they've been dried? Also i'm just about to start making some sticks that have been drying, is it worth putting ferrules on the bottom or are they just for decoration? Thanks, Rob.

Like all dog legislation in this country, it's an absolute mess, so vague in it's wording a good brief should shred it to bits. One bit of it " a dog is dangerously out of control if someone thinks it might injure them". I've been walking dogs and people have freaked out when I've been feet away, in these peoples opinion a dog just walking might injure them judging by their reaction. When we were growing up, we got the odd bite, we didn't demand the dog be put to sleep, we were told to be more careful and we knew which dogs to avoid!

I'd be asking for the money back, at least for the consultation, how could she miss that! After a while without a dog, I used my old vets, everytime I went there would be a different vet. The last straw was the dog broke her canine tooth. The vet didn't even introduce herself, said the dog was overweight without even weighing it! I had to hold the dogs mouth open while she looked at the tooth from about 6 feet away and said the dog would need an operation to remove the tooth. After thinking about it, I cancelled the operation telling them I wasn't happy with their service. They still tried t

Good looking dogs, I like a bit of leg on these large breeds and not to deep chests. If you look at any pictures of old molossers, guarding breeds etc they all seem more moderate than the ones we have today. the Boerboel seems to be getting heavier and heavier, that can't be good for it's health or working abilities. In Brazil there's breeders trying to get back to the older style fila's, more athletic than the present ones. I don't know what goes through these breeders minds with some of the dogs they are producing, have they got different eyes to us? eg Serbian rottweiller

Yeah, it happens in football too, all this talk of agents, chairmen etc. I just want to know the fight is announced and when it will take place and the purse. A lot of these promotors, managers like eddie hearn etc, if they were chocolate they'd eat themselves.
