  1. I agree, fully. Strange things can happen when hunting - I've had a rabbit, gutted and skinned, still twitching. I've had a head shot pigeon walk 5yrds while dragging its head on the floor. These things I can't do much about. I've also had a rabbit screaming and going so balistic on the floor that a follow up shop was impossible - this one, I had to run in and break its neck. I've hit a couple of birds that flew off out of sight. These are the things that I want to do my best to minimise.
  2. I have heard things like this said but, not to this extreme. Personally, I think that comments like this demonstrate a very poor attitude towards our prey and, disrespect for the sport in general. I'm no sharp shooter but, I do enjoy aiming for spinners and the bell at 80yrds at my local range. It's an open air range - I can see the effect that wind has on the pellet and, I can see the reduced effect on spinners. There's just way too many variables to hunt at that range and power. I guess, it could be possible with a 'once in a lifetime shot' but, it's not a chance that I would be willin
  3. It seems to like FAPs and Exacts. Nice test. Thanks for for posting.
  4. You piss all over her?! No way - she nearly killed me when I once got so drunk that I pissed in the wardrobe. I pissed in the oven once, she didn't speak to me for a week! That made me laugh. Every bloke on the planet should have silly drunk pissing story :D
  5. I agree. It's a kids life ffs. Some of those pricks will twist anything to suit their agenda. Rip little 'un.

  7. It's in your blood - accept it. It won't go away. Put your kit in storage for now. You will want it again Atb
  8. There's 2 cannibals eating a clown. One says to the other 'does this taste funny to you?'
  9. Each to their own I suppose. Personally, I'm like a dog with territory when it comes to my missus - it's one of the very few things that would make me violent.
  10. That does make sense and, I do get what you mean. I'd never choose to use a rifle that's too low in power - I do want the right tool for the job. I have had the odd bad shot that I wasn't happy with at all - it happens and, it'll happen again but, I try to lower the chances as much as possible. However, I dont have an fac so, I'm conscious of the fact that I can't sail too close to the line. One of things I've always taught my daughter, apart from safe gun handling, is to have respect for what we hunt. Thanks for the reply.
  11. They were shot early afternoon, around 2pm. I don't know what they were feeding on - I was shooting in and around an industrial unit. probably shite n rubbish left behind by polish lorry drivers!not food for the pot then check out what this bloke has to say about pellet weights and impacts, he's put a lot of time into it No, I didn't realy fancy these - most were rather manky looking specimens, sat on beams covered in their own mess. I didn't want to try the ones from outside as they were probably the same. It was just pest control. Thanks for the link - I do find the technical st
  12. You would be better of with AA express or jsb Express in .177 or .22 for that matter FAP are very good in .22 ,haven't had much luck with them in .177 Thanks for the tip. I appreciate it.

  14. I've always used the heavies because I mostly shoot rabbits and, for that, they're fantastic. I've got quite a selection of pellets so, I'll try a few at the range. Thanks for the reply.
  15. Fair comments. Thanks for the replies. I never push my shots past 45yrds in .177 and 35yrds in .22 while hunting. I've had my night time permission for a while now and I know it well. For any day time shooting, I always take my lrf. I always check my kit and zero before I go out. ..... it looks like it was just shit aiming/shooting on my part. I took on those 2 shots because the heads were obscured by branches. I wasn't happy with the results. I'd shot a few more that day, same way and, they just dropped. Mostly front on, chest shot, heart & lung. It got me doubting myself
  16. I've noticed lately, while shooting pigeon, that a slightly lower powered impact seems to have more of an effect. Obviously a head shot is a head shot, it goes down every time. But for heart & lung shots with my .177 HW100, they seem to just drop if they're hit from 40yrds +. I shot 2 in the same way lately at less than 20yrds - I saw the impact in the right place and heard the pellet hit but, they both flew off. I also shot 1 with a 22 FAP pellet from my TX which was doing 10.8ftlb. This was around 25yrds. Again, the pigeon just dropped. The pellet had put a fair sized wound in it's
  17. This was my first successful stock..... A blue, grey and silver laminate for my old Edgun Matador R3M. A friend did a very good job of the inletting for me. I did the shaping and finishing. I like quite a chunky grip and, after a lot of messing about, I managed to get a really comfortable fit from this. This stock put the center of balance just in front of the trigger.
  18. Cheers guys. Glad you like it. The only thing that I forgot to add was that the service from Adrian and Mandy at A&M was first class. I've been thinking about trying a lighter pellet for hunting. I might have another bash at this with regular Exacts or FAPs on my next day off.
  19. Well done. Don't forget your rubber gloves.
  20. I love mine. I've tried quite a few of the usual suspects over the last year but, this really is a keeper.
  21. Sounds like a very good evening out. It certainly beats my score last night. On the plus side, I think my rifle enjoyed being taken for a walk
  22. Happy days. Is that a nice new HW100 lurking in the shadows?
