Exactly my friend, I've lost a few that way myself and it hurts, nobody knows whats round the corner so enjoy your life doing what you can, when you can, no regrets, so long as you're not harming anyone else then enjoy it, Plucky

Watch your dogs don't get poisoned tree hands and navman, the insecticide they spray on the tip face to stop the flies is deadly to everything, even you, find out what they are using if any, otherwise its happy hunting, Plucky

Fd, whats the threats all about ? I'll do my best to place you routine, hope I'm whiter than white LOL's, get a grip man you are not the terrier police FFS just an ordinary poster like me or anyone else unless I've missed something, at my age I've done all I want to do and I am content in my walks each day with nothing to prove to anyone, I only have a few terriers left and through ill health my days on the mountain, hill or even flat land will catch me up in the next few years unless I buy a quad, I am not a known lad really, keeping my company close and tight knit, having read some of your

FD,I am not getting on your case,it is a forum of opinions driven by our own personal experiences, I just do not understand how after many years of trust and friendship enough to share your terriers and dream of running the best black dogs around that you can fall out so easily, we all feel let down when somebody you thought was on the same wavelength and he is not,you obviously have been let down before to have taken it so badly,it is your dream and not as important to others mate, that's real life. I do not wish to be drawn into an argument so that you can vent your frustration on me but

If I kept plummets I'd expect a moan but these are the real deal fella lol.[/quot]you really do think only you have the holy grail, there are plenty of good terriers of all colours not just black, I do not understand your arrogance or lack of compassion for your fellow man,I have bled, cried and gone through tough times with my mates and when times are hard we know we can count on each other,we only hunt fox not crocodiles by the way and I have seen pet dogs go to ground and give a good account of themselves, its nice to run a line but its not every bodies cup of tea, when you die do you think th

The Strangest Thing Youve Seen Out Hunting.
Plucky1 replied to sounder79's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Sounds like "Keith Lard" off phoenix nights, LOL's, Plucky -
I have seen many lads come and go in the serious digging game, some have been weekenders and some have never worked in a job, just lived for terriers, no lurchers, but I still maintain a friendship built on many years of them being there whenever I could get out with them, I am the last to still be at it coming up 60yrs old, 3 packed in around the ban coming in,their attitude was that if they couldn't do what they did before without looking over their shoulder then that was it, I took 1 of them that seemed to be wavering back out for a day as he still had a couple of terriers thinking he may co

I hear what you're saying Lee but even in a team you will always come to favour one, only takes one to work an earth and unless you get out everyday frustration amongst the others can cause dog fights and miss placed aggression,if your terriers are hard and are getting knocked up on every dig then I understand the need for more than one, if you run them free working cover then you don't want lots of earth type dogs as they will follow if run to ground, giving you the nightmare of multiple terriers in an earth, I am just pointing out the obvious and good luck with your new pup as the percentages

Lee, I've read a lot of your posts and don't make the age old problem of getting over dogged with other peoples sh*t, you're better off with 1 good terrier that is doing it then half a dozen jackers and half do'ers, get some experience under your belt for a few years , no rush just enjoy what you do now, Plucky

Jack Russells, One Particular Friend And Bert Gripton.
Plucky1 replied to Lutra Lutra's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Enjoyed that ultra, very good read and look forward to hearing some tales of "thimble", there were lots of working terriers to choose from back in the day and most would give a good account of themselves but special dogs only come along here and there, most of us never realised how good they were until we lost them, can't change the past but we can improve the future, good hunting, Plucky -
Exactly my point on the previous page, any fool can get a licence that has permo and no convictions but it doesn't mean they can shoot accurately, there should be a test on it and the safe backdrop, posh feckers that don't like walking or getting dirty do it the lazy way, I agree that keepers should use it as an extra tool but drawing cover and terrier work is the most efficient, Plucky

I noticed the flat lands behind you are still very boggy, fecking hard work especially carrying gear, rabbits, etc, looked a great day out though, hope you had a pint at the end of day and summit to eat, yours in sport, Plucky

One of the reasons I went over to russells was because of idiots on fox drives nearly shooting my old red terriers, some folk pull the trigger before putting their brain in gear, even now I tell anyone out with me,you shoot my dog then you better be prepared to go the same way, also see a lot of lads take far out shots that do not cleanly kill fox, they will slip away and die in agony, not a nice way to go, Plucky

NO,is the easy answer,Plucky

My mates lad has gotten in with a keeper running 2big estates not far from me,he tried the lurcher and terrier game but was found wanting so bought a rifle, top of the range night vision/IR the full hit, shooting up to 9 fox a night,he now has the bug big time and is shooting anywhere he can get permo on,he shoots large numbers over 12 months,so that shows you how easy it is, Plucky

FD, there are many levels of terrier work and many just want a companion or family dog for a bit of sport and enjoy a walk or day out, everybody will want something different from their tykes, there will more lads mouching, bushing, ratting, rabitting, ferreting etc than digging, digging on the mainland UK is a minority at best, most of the hardcore lads I knew have either packed in or gone underground and would not entertain posting online, because you have high standards that does not make other lads lesser people or enjoy their sport less,we are all as different as the dogs we keep and the hand of f

you are like the terrier police FD,you are always checking up on some one off here, fishwife springs to mind, Plucky You will learn one day that people arnt who they would have you think they are .In which case they get outed .The truth means more than your thoughts bud . I have no idea who pablo is or half the people on here, you can be anyone you like on the internet mate unless you know them personally from your locality or they are someone famous, I just don't see the need to "out" everyone that you think is a threat to you being "top dog",nobody is any better than the next man in life

Second one is a collar off a drilling rig, first one looks like a fecking rocket lol,s, Plucky

Fireman, its not keepered land mate, the farmers nephew and mates appeared last season or so and is out every night on 4 or 5 farms that their family owns, I have been on them for around 30yrs and never decimate either the rabbits or the vermin, always leave a few to breed until this tit turned up,he is a dangerous decker as well, shoots his hmr and 243 like its a pellet gun, leaves them in the fields to rot, cartridges everywhere,as I said a prize tit,Plucky

Its probably been my worst season in over 40yrs,weather has been shit and far too many shooters about, leaving them where they drop and not even bothering to remove the carcase, roll on next season with some proper cold weather to keep the public away from the wilds, cnuts have been traipsing all over my permissions then have the cheek to ask what I am doing, nice one page, Plucky

Khan has a glass jaw and has been found out,he does have fast hands but anyone tagging him proper will have an early night,I watched him as an amateur and he would bring hundreds of paki,s with him but as soon as he had his fight they would all feck off and leave the rest of the England team to fight in an empty arena,so they started putting him on last, big headed tw@t,Plucky

Do you know Tom Baker gnash ? he was going to buy a terrier off me before Xmas and we spoke a few times at length on the phone,he came across as a real nice kid and I hope he does well,he was saying his brother runs a few lurchers, I tried to pm you this but it would not go, Plucky
-
Its a shame when you hear of things like this, he was a one armed fighter at best 1st time round, he will never get a licence of any sort with his mental health history, now if he said he was going to get a pair of tits and change his name to "Gloria" then we may have to take him seriously lol's,you couldn't make up some of the sh*te in the fight game recently, Plucky

I always like a partner to share the digging but also the craic, its surprising the shit you talk about when out, I have also always had a few standby lads in case you hit a deep one or a shit place, I hate drains as they all look the same on the outside but you never know where the f*ck they end up,keep your circle of friends tight and there will be no issues, its a sport not the secret service, nice terriers as well matey, enjoy, Plucky

its illegal to release a live rat to your terrier mate and not something to talk about on an open forum, all good ratting terriers and bushers have one thing in common and thats a good nose, following scent is what catches things, as previously said find a few boys that are working the cover or ratting to get your pup going, break it to ferrets and livestock as most ratting is around farms, etc, within a short time you'll be on here as an expert, Plucky
