    many of us had deer/grey cross collie/grey in the 80s, almost the standard lurcher of its time, and most made reasonable all rounders. not sure how many were genuine, as there would have needed to be a hell of a lot of coursing deerhounds at stud lol. google sorisdale deerhounds, now i know it is difficult to judge conformation from photos, but some of those dogs look more like camels or donkeys than deerhounds, and certainly none have what we would look for in a working hound. seem to be big heavy cloddy things too, and excessive weight added to poor feet would certainly explain why the c

    he's not planning to breed any 1/2 x's but i think i'll try a 9th generation across a grey.so there basically 3/4 grey 1/4 deer.there smaller a little with hopefully more take off speed.£300 all pups.he's got a litter of above now but i'm waiting till spring.

    not really injury prone the injurys they had would finish most dogs but apart from that they were fine.

    no pups she died aged 2.got kebabed in the stomach a little and through the back leg 2 miles from home.i couldn't carry her back so had to make her walk when another deer jumped and off she went.was going to breed my 3rd bitch next year she was my best

    had 3 off platts.1st one pulled his 1st roe at 7 months,1st and 2nd hare at 10 months,1st rabbit at 11 months,1st fox at about 7 months and that was his last except 2's up. that was a 3/4 deerhound 1/4 grey. 31''tts and could definietly could catch rabbits and never stopped hunting.great around the house.can't think of any thing bad about him.2nd one pretty much the same as above but entered her on fox much later and she stopped a few on her own no problem,loads of roe daytime but wouldn't pull them at night for some reason.she died aged 2 after jumping a fallen tree and getting kebabed on a b

    totally get what your saying about the invincible aura,they don't have that look about them.they are crossed with a grey so they won't be as wide across as a pure or as powerful,don't like the bitches feet or there jackets much but if they spotted something in the distance there neck and back will stretch and you'll get a better look at them.still better than a bull x.ha

    Thats a poor looking Deerhoundy bitch,short coupled,short necked,narrow fronted and weak skulled,the dog looks a tad wider between the ears but is slender jawed and as weak looking as the bitch.A very poor representation of a Deerhoundy. haha,bit harsh morton.short coupled and short neck could be solved by showing it something and they'll stand better.other crtisism's can see your point.look at the back foot on the bitch.

    does anybody know that if it was picked up on our 1st visit that i might have saved her.?i'll ask the vets but i might not get a truthful answer from them.it could be trouble for the young vet.

    i always thought they were bomb proof but there just flesh and blood.every run can be there last.aint qiute sunk in yet,still expect her when i come through the door.the vet described a right mess inside her and she still come for a walk everyday and not made a sound.driving to the vets this morning i never thought this would of happened instead it cost me £450 to lose my best dog.

    i'm looking for a new lurcher soon.was just wondering what out there now or any planned litters next year.not bothered about any cross could even consider a 1/4 bull but want an all rounder that can work day and night and put in a good shift on everything and bred from hard workers.lifetime home,best food and plenty of work awaits.whats about then.?

    bad news for me today.my deerhound x bitch was p.t.s this morning.after blood tests and x rays i found out she had a diagramtic hernia which means that her diaphram had completly split the vet said her liver had found it's way into her chest cavity.surgery was an option and i would have paid whatever it costs but even if surgery was a complete success she would never work again.most likely caused by massive trauma after hitting something.even with that injury she still ran down the stairs whenever i pick up the lamp.i'm a deerhound x man but i don't think i'll ever have one again with her at
