  1. If in doubt,Vets, with a little more experience its part and parcel of the seasons.Get a staple gun, learn how to use it,none of us knew until we learnt, all part of the process mucker, good luck. I didnt think muscle could be stapled ?
  2. I feed raw never cook the meat and still manage to loose all sorts in it , biscuit, bonemeal, oils, veg, pasta, rice they nail the lot mixed in through raw meat especially minced chicken carcass binds well with anything.
  3. Was just on about this earlier i have a bitch here with the same problem was wondering if there was anything i could do to help her out. I will give the lemon a try.
  4. You sound like a anti.No definitely not an anti just respect the quarry we hunt. If you think that chucking in a cub to hounds is hunting then you are in the wrong game imho. Didnt think you were a anti. Just thought that post sounded like something a anti would say.
  5. I once brought a pup with a umbilical hernia. I also asked for advice of a number of different vets. The best advice i got was wait until the pup is fully grown 12+ months old and then take it to the vets for a small operation to have it stitched costing no more than a £100. One vet wanted to spay her at the earliest oppurtunity telling me that a bitch with a hernia should never be bred from. Yet another vet that keeps gundogs told me that his best spaniel has always had a hernia and he plans to take a litter from her this summer. Needless to say i will never be using the vet that advised
  6. Same here mate i always start them off at a hour at a time in with a older quiet dog and slowly build it up over a few weeks. Only letting a pup out when it is staying silent. Usually works for me along with a few sprays of the hose.
  7. No problem jok will be back over before september for another. Atb
  8. Been to pick up a double bow back today from jok... best quality box ive owned to date really happy with it. Nice one jok Will be getting back intouch before the season to buy a poachers box as had a look at one earlier and they are spot on aswell.
  9. This is a load of bollox, ive spoke to the lad whos number appears on the adverts, hes a genuine bloke who has two litters of sealyham pups between him and his brother. He doesnt own lurchers just sticks to his terriers. He had some trouble through dogs with somebody last year and ever since they have been putting his number to adverts on the internet for cars, land and even a parrot for sale and now lurchers. Thats why when text by lurcherman887 he knew nothing about the lurchers. So before lads start slagging lads off on forums they want get there storys straight before they get a ma
  10. To be honest yeh it does mate but for some reason i dont feel comfortable feeding it on its own if im feeding just dry i want the best stuff i can get hold of.
  11. What site is that off if you dont mind me asking ? Good price that is. I can fill my freezer with 3 months of meat for that price. I could get near 60 kg of meat for £36. Eukanuba is good though, just expensive. Im paying £50/£60 a month on raw mate for five dogs and thats mixed with gain puppy and sapling which is costing me £27 a month having a bag delivered. Im thinking of trying eukanuba for a month or two to see if it suits the dogs and to see if i can save a few quid lol im in two minds at the moment though. Just shopping around to find the best deals on eukanuba.

  14. I have a blue bitch pup here out of brindle sam shes only 5 months old at the moment but can already tell that shes very keen to chase, she stands at about 21tts upto now has a natural retrieve which is a bonus when it comes to training i suppose. I am more than happy with her up to yet i would put a picture up of her but dont know how to do it on my phone.
  15. Good point. Thats what i was trying to get at on the ' bedlington x whippet for bushing' thread .
  16. The facts are that a small lurcher may be as keen to bush and thrash about as a terrier, only one of them will get through thick cover, the other will try its best.I never once said that the beddy x whippet was as good as a terrier through thick cover, thats why i own terriers and not beddy x whippets. What i was saying was the beddy x whippet i saw would get through it maybe a bit slower and at the expense of a few skin tears ears etc but in the end she got the job done just as well as any other bushing dog ive seen. It would not get the job done as well then would it ?,not having a knock muc

  19. I use ivemectin spot ons on mine. Does it kill internal worms aswell then ?
  20. You been busy today taxi driver ?
  21. Yes mate if they see it enter then it could be a different story but until then im happy believing that the schooling ive given mine she wont enter a earth on scent alone. From whats been said above the same method seems to be working for other people aswell but thats with a spaniel x terrier. I will try the same thing with my next terrier but maybe it will prove me wrong lol
  22. I think theres some truth in what your saying mate about discouraging them not to enter a earth. I have used the same method with my terrier since she was 6 months old knowing i wouldnt be doing any digging with her shes always been discouraged from showing to much intrest in earths and hasnt dropped in yet but is still keen to flush them from cover. But ive always encouraged her to mark rabbits knowing that she will do the odd bit of ferreting.
  23. I havent got any pics gaz wasnt my dog mate. It would crouch low like a terrier does taking some of its height away if that makes sense. With it been quite racy when it got down low you would be suprised the gaps it would push through.
