    I think a few men have maybe sacrificed working ability to get uniformed and even looking dogs over the years just so could get a "line" of their own ! Myself I don't care if they're a bit of a scatter bred screwy mongrel as long as they do what I want them to do .

    I'm sure different men have different views on when a line becomes their own. For me it's all about consistently producing workers from a family of dogs over several generations . If the dogs ain't producing a real good percentage of workers then it's not worth calling them " your own line" ?

    I hope they try and keep it similar to the Oliver Postgate original and not make it to PC and modern for kids today .

    It all depends on what you call intelligence ,if you mean does it have the ability to sit and retrieve or work a earth efficiently ? There's many breeds terriers and all are different and many different men expect them to different jobs. If you find one that does the job you want it to do then I would say that dog is the most intelligent .

    When I was a teen me and a mate went with a dog that he'd just bought , two year old 100% or so the bloke said that sold my greenhorn mate it lol. Anyhow try's him on a spot that defo holding the dog starts to bay we check the box at over six foot so we start to dig in some heavy chalk . At about four foot down my mate and me are blowing out of our arses so it's decided I go and get some drinks from the near by shop while my mate Carrys on digging. I return with the drinks and crisps to find my greenhorn mate still digging away with the dog sitting on the spoil watching him dig lol.

    Mate I shudder when I think of some of the places we done when my mate and me were lads. Railway embankments , old tips still doing them lol. One time we had a dig in the back of an old folks home and the pensioners were watching us an not batting an eyelid as they drunk their cup of tea. Your spot on though young uns would get lifted if they done the same nowadays. Still I bet you wouldn't change a thing ? I know I wouldn't !

    I wasn't going to post about any digs on here anymore but after reading stigs last thread I had a pang of guilt , I'm not much of a writer but here goes. Monday morning the digging gears in the boot the collars charged and I've got me new boots on . My mate and me are going to some of my permo that's always be lucky for us we always seem to have a dig there and it's not often we blank. We park up get the dogs outs and a quick walk to a bank of dirt that's basically an old rubbish tip that's got an earth on. We tried a dog that had made many mistakes last year but we thought we'd give him one l
