  7. I don't do getting wet in rivers a sea, spent all my time fishing trying to stay dry and not fall in. My Lad and his Wife on the other hand go wild swimming at lease once a week in the river Dart on the edge of Dartmoor rain shine sleet or snow. They keep records of the temperature, told me it was just 3 degrees at times. f**k that ! Cheers Arry
  8. Very interesting that Eddie. Well done. Cheers Arry
  9. Can't speak on the Simplex Coywolf but I can recommend the Minelab Vanquish 540 which I started with two years ago. To be fare it don't miss much it's not waterproof but up to now I don't detect in the rain. The coil and shaft are waterproof just not the machine part so fine for the beach. It's very very easy to use just switch on and go. Just up graded to a Minelab Equinox 800 (waterproof)which is better but a lot more complicated, still getting my head around it. Couldn't turn it down second hand only used three times half price. Lot of people like the Garret 250. Cheers Arry

  17. In the late 60's I was an apprentice electrician at Dartington hall in the Barn Theatre. I met Marcel Marceau helped set up the stage, lighting etc a nice guy and brilliant. Then in the Great Hall set up and met Ravi Shankar load of huge cushions for him to sit and play his Sitar. Probably met more as they had famous people playing Grand pianos, Harpsichords, Quartets and Opera people but I was young and not interested lol. Cheers Arry

  21. Every body to their own mate I find it very addictive and a lot like fishing in a way never knowing what going to turn up. Helps keep me active as I'm knocking on now. Given up the guns now but still fish, ferret, forage fungi along with gardening. Cheers Arry
  22. No mate not in a club. I know few farmers so just mooch around doing it myself. I like it that way, I know a chap that runs a club and they travel to Somerset from Devon. I'm happy some land I can go on is only about Half a mile from home. Only been doing it about 18 months and just upgraded to a equinox 800 from a Vanquish 540 which is a excellent machine for a first detector. Had these two last week and found a £200 toolbox for a farmer that they managed to plough in. More brownie points. Cheers Arry
