  1. I think its something to do with availability of food aswell mate ive seen them over the next few month looking poor as rooks and worst time for seeing them for me is just before corns cut bumped into them in middle of the day laid in a pile of stingers
  2. Tell you whats strange about them things some parts of the year you wouldnt believe they even existed you wouldnt find one for the lottery other times your tripping over them even seeing them daylight alot of the time down here.id like to know what all of a sudden makes them active
  3. Got a 16mm ten shot milbro mould for sale or swap fellers. Works perfectly knock up a thousand shots in no time
  4. Definitely i got the deadshots and have them tabbed and wrapped for tube there deadly
  5. Something ive never really understood is clearing them with nets ect maybe salmon and seatrout but never really wanted to empty a river its abit of sport sneaking about with rod and dog. Maybe if a river keeper went over the top i could be tempted but wouldnt like to see it barren
  6. Yeah the old stock ponds get abit samey dont they. Cant beat them fast rivers when there smacking the bread of the top
  7. Not kept a trout for ages allways chuck them back now had loads on bread and spinners on the chalkstreams the bigger ones mever make good eaters
  8. Thing is tho straight bull greyhound dont matter what there off will fade and get hot especially if you want them finishing stuff themselves without having to step in. Coursing stuff do tend to push things about and dont run at stuff how i like but get a cranky old coursing dog and they kill some stuff coursing dog x bull can come out well but again not often they do what a bull x does and what a coursing dog does its just an inbetween normally make serious deer animals kill a few hares n odd fox. i find it hard to look past coursing type to lurcher if im truthful good sort of lurc
  9. What u lined her with mate ?
  10. Sika deer are the only venison worth eating imo. They water deer are smelly b*****ds
  11. Thats what caught me eye about them they look like got bit of character can u break adult birds to your own place or better off buying few stock birds ?
  12. Tbh nipper i just fancy something different not fussed on catching other birds with them just sommat to messabout with over the summer but without having to go all mad getting lofts up or kitboxes sorted.
  13. Whats the craic with these horseman thief pouters lads ? What sort of setup do theh need and would u be ok with a trio or need a few ?
  14. Think theres a big difference in shepherds rotts ect guarding/nailing someone to a crank pot type dog trying to cause someone serious harm. Its hard to explain but certainly a very big difference
  15. Was it plummer that wrote the taking of deer with dogs is cruel ? Seems a funny thing for any hunting man to say
  16. I quite like a lurcher to not be over friendly with strangers had a few that loved a sleeve for fun aswell. The young bitch i got loves a squirrel if she stands there looking ya can bet ya last penny theres one there somewhere. Lurchers are funny sort of dogs if they spend alot of time out and about not just hunted and packed away.
  17. And you reckon few milky does will make a dog that wouldnt follow on through will turn it into a little demon in cover ? I dont reckon so feller i think if they stopped at cover as pups when in my opinion they should be at there very keenest theyll do it when push comes to shove. I could be wrong just my opinion.
  18. Think thats same with most things everything runs to cover dont it. If you run good hares though in my opinion i think you want a dog to learn that silly bish bash strikes n that aint the way forward i want a dog to work its hare out force it off where its trying to get and kill it in abit of style dont really want them thinking the way to kill them is run them like rabbits but we all different i suppose
  19. Your saying using nose cover ect surely just bit of rabbit bashing does same thing ? Dont get me wrong i couldnt care less if someone shot 50 tonight and chucked terriers out on them but cant try making out it does the dog any good surely
  20. How olds the pup your running milky does with out of interest ?
  21. You trying to tell me a good days rabbit bushing or muntjac bushing wouldnt do the same but more kills ect ?
  22. I got some of the best field land youve ever seen right on my doorstep its lifting with hares Thats without all the rabbit and muntjac bushing i do ill ask again what does waiting until hares are milky and in shit condition teach a dog on any land ? a dog only gets good on the best of hares by learning its style not killing milky does on tuffety grass
  23. Never really understood that soft hare stuff what does it teach a dog that rabbits dont ? Good hares learn a dog those that aint great dont bring much to the table imo
