You don't have to hand it to them it's just the information on it they can look at, you paid for that bit of paper or plastic and it belongs to you so just make them read it and not touch it. It's just the newer paper part that came with the photo cards that have been abolished.

It’s not having an address that’s more of an issue very unpalatable in this world were everyone has to be in a box

eastcoast 4,695 Posted Saturday at 20:09 Report Share Posted Saturday at 20:09 Went down a DVLA online wormhole a few years ago. Still had paper, and the address was from many years ago. Changing address was easy, but needed data that only modern driving licenses have. So was not possible. So used the online portal to get a modern face recognition license. Easy enough until address input. Long story short... I could get a new license with the old wrong address but could not update my home address until I had the new license. Got sorted easily enough after about an hour and a half of testing their reserve and a human being eventually answered to phone.

Maybe because (I presume from your user name) you have firearms. I had a crash a few years ago and when police turned up the first thing they asked was if there were any firearms in the vehicle, they'd obviously checked the reg and it must flag up licence holders.linked to the reg. Cheers, D.

Borr 8,466
My first motor was an astra van and I was driving everywhere at all times of day and night from graveyards to golf courses in pursuit of coney, but only got pulled when back in Gwent and they had a national rep for handing out producers , to the point I went in with a previous years insurance as mine had just passed and they were so used to it they scanned and returned nothing noticed. Also used to sleep in the back I remember my folks getting a call as my vehicle was reported to be involved in an armed robbery, had some fun in the old astra van.
