That is the lad that produced Ellie a very good bitch on all quarry that was put to  a deerhound /bull Greyhound out of joe dees son nephew to Pye a dog called stag owned by cb that produced it saw some decent stuff of them

As has been said a million times by others it was a bit of a lottery with the Hancocks given they absolutely were not ‘a line’ and bred from various different dogs at differing percentages. BUT, I’ve seen some crackers; a lad I know, not that long ago, had a rough coated 3/4 bred beardie-border that was almost competition standard obedience trained, a fantastic proven all-round worker and just a just a lovely dog to own and a great companion.
 

He always said he’d have another like her in a heartbeat but by then the Hancocks had pretty much stopped breeding. He bought in and had bred one or two others himself; lurcher to lurcher, saluki this to superstar that, and whilst decent I don’t think any really replaced that 3/4 bred Hancock overall. It did everything and was ridiculously easy to own temperament wise.

I always think speeds no good with out gameness and drive alot of dogs havent got the strike either they've bat things up and down a field bending etc and they just seem to make meals of things no good where I go

Iv never seen a Hancock collie cross or seen one work I assume they are mainly bred out of greyhound Dams .. I bred a litter many years ago out of a Welsh Hill Working Collie Bitch put to a  Greyhound I keep 2 sisters  they were Chalk and Cheese one had the greyhound brain the other the collie they came very useful on rabbit hare and the odd fox the smaller of the two ( Pam ) 23 tts was in my opinion my perfect rabbit dog the connection we had was

Agility and therefore strike, definitely.

Gameness that’s a whole topic in itself! There are game dogs and there are liabilities. If you are out every single week rabbiting on masses of permissions, as we used to be, you see how ‘game’ but intelligent dogs learn from their knocks and bumps, start to adjust and run accordingly. That’s a strength not a weakness.

Alas the place i hunt dont produce as many rabbits as they used to infact some none at all therefore 1 must adjust accordingly and the dogs I used to run are obsolete

My dad once owned a 3/4 grey 1/4 collie not of Hancock breeding just worker to worker she was a fair old bitch by all accounts many lads witnessed her catch decent bags of rabbits day and night she took hare in the day when he used to go coursing at 6mile bottom
