gnasher16 31,184
Terrible news, very sad for all concerned. It has to be said though how many more times are we going to hear all this " tyre blow out " protective excuse for rich young men in the spotlight losing control of high powered sports cars in the dead of night. Welsh_red 4,979
Im surprised more young footballers dont die in car crashes. At such a young age with insanely fast cars Edited July 3 by Welsh_red

A lot of these modern sports cars are fitted with state of the art fire suppression systems.....but thats not going to help you out if you've just hit a wall at 140 mph ! Unfortunately it was the first thing I thought when I read about it, and maybe a bit unfair as I’ve no idea what experience or training the lad had in driving powerful cars. Thing is it’s way too easy now to climb into a motor with incredible power and which can put you in trouble in a heartbeat.., or even worse, wipe out some poor b*****d coming the other way. Hate the idea of even more legislation and opportunity for the government to rinse us for more cash, but if we’re going to allow the sale of these 200mph rocket ships, then maybe we should insist that some form of mandatory advanced driving is required before you pilot one. A quick look on Autotrader found a 572bhp Audi, which (I believe) has the same V10 as they use in some Lamborghinis (Jota was apparently driving a Lambo), and for only £25k. A kid on even a modest wage would find finance to buy that easily.

Bit like buying a motorbike you would have to be fecking mad.this car above is not even that fast . could kill yourself in a Micra if you hit a wall at mph.totally irrelevant response.bit like why would you want to own a gun when you do not like them .as for the football player why is there so much reporting about this ?. Never heard of him

Couldnt agree more,my son imports a lot of Japanese performance cars he always says they have the performance of a Ferrari at the price of a Merc or Bmw.....ive driven some seriously fast cars and the throttle response on some of these motors is frightening you're literally talking about a fraction of a seconds lack of concentration and you're gone.....back years ago the sheer noise of a car at speed would force you to pay 100% attention but todays modern sports cars you can be doing 120/130/140 and still hold a conversation with your passenger its like you're just cruising along. Anyone thats had fast cars knows if you're going to really open it up and see what its capable of you're going to do it during the night ,cars lights/stopping distances etc.....young men like Jota, maybe a bit of ego involved with a passenger, wealth that allows you to easily replace it....is all bound to cause a certain mindset......tragic but im not sure how the problem can be solved. jukel123 9,230
Liverpool supporters had better be prepared for tragedy chanters goading them after the lads death. I'm 100% against the new free speech law masquerading as "hate law". But supporters who tragedy chant should be identified and horse whipped. Insensitive, evil_ minded scumbags.
