I’d go for a pup without doubt. I’d be hard pressed to trust an adult.

I had a cane corso mate and I will have one again not as big as people think size of a lab with the bonus of natural guarding instinct and looks to deter, sound around kids, easily trainable and good hunting instincts with plenty of stamina you could easily train it along side your spaniels there a man in Scotland that uses his for deer stalking and tracking. There’s a few men in England with decent stock not the usual shite you see knocking about.

No my spaniels are soft as shite. They’re a bit aloof with strangers but totally soft. In fact I believe them not being at home is part of the reason I was targeted. Yard was quiet for 3 days. Which again is something I can change.

Mine won't go near anyone but goes ballistic at visitors/intruders.

That Jock who's on FB has the perfect dog, it's a Boerboel, very obedient, friendly & great with other dogs. They are natural guard dogs and I imagine when it barks inside the home you'd mistake it for a lion. Lol

And 9 times out of 10 you'll end up paying thousands for something that ain't what you'll be told it is.Theres more scamming/lieing twats selling dream dogs in that game than there is in the terrier/lurcher/gundog game. You never hear of any failures in that job.Theyre always advertised with cleverly shot videos of them biting sleeves to make them look good and just needing finishing touches.

Keeper mate has told me about a mate of his that has pups from stock he uses for everything. Dunno, sounds ideal but I’m sure downsouth had said they have a reputation for being a bit unstable? I’m taking this seriously but can’t rush.

Sorry to hear of your situation it’s horrible I my self would hate this and wouldn’t be able to let it go.

When I was younger I was away from home a lot we had a male Shar-Pei not one of these baggy bags of shit you see nowadays, they were quite new to the UK when I had mine he was easy to train loyal very quiet but when it came to protecting 100% very very territorial, we had a situation when me and my wife was out and my early teens son was in alone some clown decided jump over our yard fence the dog destroyed him ripped his leg to f**k while my son was laying into him the intruder with a metal dog lead.

Personally if you have guns be ready I’ve actually timed my own response if ever god forbid I need to protect my home.

But personally I don’t think you will feel the same after this, where you are with your job have you ever considered relocating out of this shithole we call the UK.

Again mate, when I’m there I’m the first and last line of offence. My concern is when I’m not. Putting a series of other measures in place too but they’re all defensive.

100% understood mate.

I taught my wife how to load and use my guns for that exact reason.

You are in the lucky position to be a gun owner, take advantage of that.

Obviously the best thing they can do is get out and run to a neighbour, but if they can’t then it’s an Alamo mentality.

Fact is, we shouldn’t even be having this conversation should we….i mean we ain’t settler farmers in Rhodesia but that’s where we are at.

Horrible mate, I suppose you will get all sorts of advice but ultimately you have to do what feels most comfortable to you.

Yeah I could imagine, I suppose nothing better than rearing them yourself is there..

A great admirer of them but they don’t belong here, especially in my home.

Maybe that’s not true anymore in the UK…

Yeah, nice dog mate, not too massive for a Boerboel, only a tiny 60kg lol.
