Arry 24,580
Bet there is a few on here that can remember being dragged along with mother to local hall to pick up Orange juice in medicine bottle with the measurements on the side of the bottle. Think it was a ration card thing. I remember also the Pop van selling Squash mainly Orange but Gran bought a new flavour Pineapple and Grapefruit I thought I was in heaven when I first tasted that. How things have changed from the days we had f**k all. Cheers Arry Edited April 16 by Arry

Strange isnt it sugar was shovelled down our necks but almost every kid was as skinny as anything. You imagine a "sugar tax" being accepted back then!

Yep...despite our high sugar intake....our generation were never indoors...I think that's the difference...

I use Turbo yeast and Turbo finings and get excellent results with a high alcohol content. Just fancied a bottle of sparkling now and again. Cheers. i’ll brew bits for crimbo chart i enjoy it to be fair ive seen the turbo yeast is it any good

If you’re not in a hurry , bakers yeast is much cheaper than Turbo yeast. Cheers.

The teacher told us all to carry on unsupervised while he carried her to a plastic seat outside to wait for her mum to take her to the hospital! We were around 6-7years old The pop man was ace. Pop, crisps etc and then the dodgy video van would turn up. Problem was our mums would not let us in the houses until teatime. We used to rotate the Saturday video evening between about 6kids houses, bring your own pop and munchies. This is after we’d been down on the golf course as soon as breakfast was done, rain or shine, grafting and selling golf balls. 4 for a pound of the good quality ones, 5 if not so good. Mid 80’s, 7 years old and we’d have 5pounds+ each to do with what we wanted. Just had to duck and dive the parkies and avoid the unscrupulous adults who tried to rob the balls. We soon cottoned on to the cnuts and would rob their balls after they teed off and sell them to the other golfers
pesky1972 5,634
Pop not really a word up here, was just the juice lorry. They certainly kept the dentists busy in the days before the word ‘diet’ might prefix your fizzy drink of choice.

Soda streams were for rich folk ,had a mate with one I liked to just drink the cola ,and shandy concentrate! Being sent down to the offy on side of pub ,to get mum fag's n peanuts ,I moved from a village to Walthamstow, I'd never seen a coloured, that soon changed !
