the rushes bad for livestock wilf ? seen something about it not been good for lambs ?

There’s no nutritional value in them mate even IF they would eat them which they won’t, nothing does.

Lambs May nip at fresh shoots when you cut them but that’s all, not enough to keep them down…..ruminants like grass and clover and all the nice mixed grassland plants….they won’t eat shit.
Most farmers spray them but that kills all the good stuff in your soil so then you have to replace that with chemicals, I don’t want to eat poison and I don’t want to eat chemicals and I don’t want to f**k up nature so all that is out for me.

Trees do a good job on rushes, where I have trees the rushes can’t live because the tree drinks all the excess water and I have lovely grass in those areas.

I don’t ever go on the football thread as my expert opinion is that dogs chase balls not people, but most blokes can talk a glass eye to sleep on that subject

i use to watch football years ago when the men were men, if they got fouled they just jumped up and carried on, nowadays it's pathetic, they trip over a daisy and there rolling around on the floor in agony....pathetic

My mate went for a new job welding in Bristol on his first morning he was asked what team he supported. He replied non it's a shit game designed to keep the proletariat divided and in there place or something like that.when he went to bothy for tea the walls were festooned with Bristol rovers flags and it was all they talked about. They even hired a bus for away games ,  needless to say he didn't last long there.

Depends what side of the river Avon you live one side gas heads one side shitheads that’s my limited experience of footie

I know your tongue in cheek there but to be honest I think most of those things are what men kinda chat about anyway

Agreed.....maybe it was just our area but i always thought there was something a bit odd about chaps who made a point of telling you they dont like football, its our national sport for a reason what did they do at school when all the other boys were nattering about the footie....same for most of the other subjects you'd either have to be the most boring b*****d in the world or a bit of a loner to not have the yap about lifes topics when around the chaps.

I only have a very basic knowledge about ground water because my fields have an infestation of rushes and I’m no fan of spraying poison on my fields.

Rushes create their own environment which gives them best chance to thrive and that involves soil and ground water.

So I have spent some time learning about regenerative farm practice in relation to soil etc etc and along with that you get some knowledge of what modern industrial agriculture does to soil structures and what those things mean in reality.

Its all common sense once you know but like most things mate, until you know you don’t think about it.

The spring thing is just common knowledge I would assume, it’s secondary school geography and anyone who has an interest in off grid living and has watched much of that knows about ground springs and how and why they work.

I have springs in my fields.

The only thing I’m an expert in is keep making mistakes ! Lol

Ive got absolutely no idea what your on about but brilliant that is when you hear folk that have taken the time to learn and understand new stuff whether its something you yourself are interested in or not.

Bit of a loner me have a few reliable good mates but spend 95% of my time on my own and got much worse in my older years I used to walk out of school at PE lessons unless it was swimming, guess a lot of it was down to my parents never trusted my old man and never had any form of encouragement from my parents just put out on the street from around 12 to get on with it so was probably the reason I learned to look after myself and not trust others, my own kids are all much more rounded because I encouraged them to take part in as many activity’s as possible girls did gymnastics netball hockey kickboxing son played football kickboxing and fished o lot with me from an early age which he still does a lot

I'd talk sport, dogs, fishing and music happily with most lads, wouldn't talk motors or weed as I know f**k all about either... Oh and air guns, again not a clue

Had the water company round today, Said it was a drainage issue, possibly caused by the new development further down the slope. Rang the council planning department. first told it was Global Warming Lol then told it would be a civil issue between the householders and the developer! Talk about fobbed off. Whilst the bloke from the water company was here he checked the mains out the front of the houses and came back with the news that he believes he has found what appears to be a leak up the road and that may be what's causing the front drive to flood,  God, it never rains but it pours Lol.

I've got zero interest in football. My boys love it. Missus takes them to tournaments and what knot. I played as a kid but grew out of it ...lol

I was more interested in guns , treehouses , beating and fishing.

Think a lot of us older one liked football when we was young. I used to follow West Ham in the Geff Hurst, Martin Peters , Bobby Moor days proper footballers. My parents supported Manchester United and every body else seem to as well so went for West Ham to piss them off and they used to score a lot of goals back then.

But foot ball went down hill for me when they started importing players from abroad and nobody from their home town. Then the falling down in the box if anybody came near them to win a penalty, win a penalty what's that about. Diving like Tom Daily.

I'll watch a international game but league I'm not interested any more.

Cheers Arry

The Welsh boys do crack me up, think there teams the greatest in the world, all people south of London are cockney c…ts, and not be trusted or even spoke to , unless your putting money in thier pockets , then suddenly they are very amicable people.  very very strange turn out

Must have had pals as a kid though mate no ?.....we was all latch key kids round our way " dont come back till its dark " and all that.....you just find a way as kids though dont you, maybe it is just different rules in different areas round our way if you didnt fight, thieve or kick a ball you was looked at as either a bit weird or a bender....not saying thats right of course.

Best thing you can do for a kid today in my opinion, put as many different sports and hobbies in front of them as possible and let them find their own talent and passions.
