Lol. He'll give you a definite answer, he knows EVERYTHING. Lol

Surely theres got to be a seriously large population of regular leopards in the countryside to get such genetic freaks as melonistic/albino ?......seems a bit far fetched to me. I’m sceptical, but if the majority of escapees/ releases were “ black panther” or melanistic types, I’d expect the sightings to be of “ big black cats”. Who knows ? I won’t knock the believers, and I’d like to be convinced, but I’m still erring on the sceptical. Cheers.
Welsh_red 4,999
This could be wildly wrong but.... From what I remember on here possibly I think back wheb you could buy them from harrods etc the black variety were the most popular choice. If that's true and a portion of the ones owned by people were set free then that could explain more black ones being spotted Or could be that a big black blob is easier to see at a quick glance than a tan colour
Gilbey 1,490
Read the same as others above about black uns, but then you see the old pics of people with them/walking them, and they are mostly normal tan/spotted cats from memory

The black ones came from the Malay peninsula mostly for the pet trade its a wooded environment as opposed to a savannah grassland type and black is better in the shadows as camo roll forward 4/5 generations of home grown cats would the black not blend in to our wooded environment better than spots hence they are now totally dominant here and before folk go mental it’s just a theory to explain a situation not any facts involved
