Borr 7,927
Why does the human mind crave conspiracy, I've found myself sucked into questioning everything, being swayed by ideas of various conspiracies. There's an element of mistrust in society, but there's also a huge need for humans to have answers , possibly how religion took such a foothold, we also need to see patterns and when we can't we might create them. I believe sometimes the obvious answers are the right ones , moon landings, JFK, anyways it's a topic to disprove conspiracy being part of the human make up, do conspiracy enthusiasts actually try and disprove their theories......as a scientist might? South hams hunter 8,988
no; they repeat the things they read on dodgey sites and youtube as if it was scientific fact
jok 3,455
Strange but true. Was on RAF Upper Heford many moons ago and we had a red alert which meant total shut down and F1 ll’s giving it large. I somehow got into a conversation during this time with a widow who was assured her late husband was not dead but actually in service on the dark side of the moon. I think this fits your starter. chartpolski 28,002
I think it depends on your understanding of the word "conspiracy". If you take it literally, as "more than one person conspiring to commit a crime",then I'd say the JFK assassination was definitely a conspiracy. If you consider everything a "conspiracy " such as fake moon landings, lizard people ruling the world, Illuminati, etc, then the vast majority are laughable nonsense. Even so, some "conspiracies" , like myths and superstitions have some basis in fact, but greatly exaggerated . Theres nothing wrong in thinking something is a conspiracy, but some are simply the wilder end of paranoia. Im a great believer in Occams Razor; " The simplest explanation is usually the correct one", or " if you hear hoof beats, assume horses, not zebras". Cheers. 6 1
SheepChaser 8,091
Because throughout history a small % of the population have controlled the rest through lies, miss information, propaganda, bribery and bullying.

Lenmcharristar 10,296
Its prob hard wired into our DNA which manifests itself different ways with, invention, adventure, conquest, beliefs, etc etc, some become paranoid as it could come through that way on a certain amount of the populace, its how we became smarter by questioning things even as simple as the smallest, daftest questions ever asked, and makes us different from the other mammals on the planet. But i usually find the real paranoid ones are drug users (stoners) and anti vaxers

But i usually find the real paranoid ones are drug users (stoners) and anti vaxers I actually think the opposite......its hard wired in our dna not to question, to go along with the tribe leaders as long as we feel safe and secure. .....but when you do finally start to realise that the 'truth' isn't totally fluid then maybe you start looking too hard. You realise that nothing we are told is accurate, but sensible discussion isn't really possible and you realise that it would literally take the queen's face dropping off to reveal a lizard to get people thinking for themselves. And so we start hoping that trump has some great truth, that the vax will turn out to be poison or that putin will destroy child sex trafficking.....because we know that's what it will take. These wild theories are then shared much easier that being allowed honest discussion. Look at the great Barrington declaration where eminent virologist, doctors and scientists wanted a different approach to dealing with covid.....was it discussed on any news out let or TV programme? No, but we all heard about how an anti vaxxer died from covid. Just sit down and look at causes, actions and effects of every conflict since ww1 and the boer war and you will see really easily that what caused it wasn't really what we genuinely believed. Millions in the first world war didn't die for freedom and democracy, ww2 wasn't just an evil Hitler deciding to invade Europe and wipe people out, that more people have died in British and far left concentration camps, that America has committed more war crimes than any other nation on the planet, we probably killed more iraqi and afghan civilians that sadam ever did or than putin ever will in Ukraine. It goes on and on..... I hopefully have never claimed to have the exact truth and I'm always happy to be corrected when I'm wrong but I think looking from an angle different to the mainstream media is often a starting point that leaves you closer to the truth

When another 14 year old gets stabbed to death in one of our city’s we all go “Oh, that’s terrible…..better cut the lawn !” Not f***ing good enough mate imho……we have to say “Nah, we got to try and stop that, how can we do it?” It’s not a conspiracy when you see the terrible every day played out round the world by so called sane people to question if they have an ulterior motive……it’s a crime if we don’t question that !
