I didn't take it as racist. I took it as feckless parents who don't give a shit, just like that white, lesbian pair. It also allways seems like an absent father is part of the scenario.

Good, whether she is black, brown or a vicky pollard lookalike, a shit parent is a shit parent, hope the book is thrown at her.

I’m going to weigh in with I had my eldest at 21, I was still studying and had 3 jobs to cover needs. I used to look around at the scum parents in Blackpool (where we lived, studied and worked) and wo

Are you talking about the working classes or black people? Because if you’re trying to say the reason she’s a sh*t mum is because she’s black ..... you might want to go into any inner city housing estate anywhere in the country, or in fact any school or social project that works with kids. Folk said exactly the same about the Irish.

Talking to a London magistrate in the youth court (I'm studying law so doing a lot of talking to law people) , he said out of all the afro Caribbean youths before him at least 3 quarters don't have any parent with them.

I've not read this whole thread. But yeah, different groups have different issues, yeah we are different

My gut instinct, I reckon we should go back to the days when social workers were feared because they took kids away, it may mean some get taken my mistake on false reports until proper investigations take place but sometime you need to caste a wide net to save a those that need saving. Plus we need the police and social workers to then get on the streets visiting and investigating families.

But whatever we do we would need places for the kids and that we don't have. The children homes have been shut down, some not before time, but foster placements are scarce, how many of you would sign up to foster children taken into care?

We have thought about it. Would need an extension first though. We have spoken to a lot of people who Foster, both friends and when researching if it was for us. It's not easy at all, not bad money though

The problem is our social care system pretty much has an outstanding record for failure when it comes to children. We spend a load of money to mess up a kid just as badly or worse than if left with the parent.

Political correctness seems more important these days to social workers and social services my town of Rotherham is proof of that.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone remember "the wag wife" ?

Older members may remember from their schooldays the women employed by the council to walk the streets during school hours looking for truants.

If they collared you, you were taken home, got a good telling off, told of the horrors of borstal, your parents were threatened with some unspecified punishment, and when dad got home, you most likely got a hiding for "bringing trouble to the house" !

Ahh, the good old days ! ? !

Cheers.
