C'mon mate... the chances are we will go back to "normal" in a couple of months and every "townie" will be back queuing for a big mac and as long as they can get baccy and beer all is good with the world... I don't for one minute think we are going to starve and self reliance is our only hope..I do however think this highlights how different people act.... I'd like to think most of us could "make do" and not go into panic mode if McDonald's or sainsbury's shut for a week... Most of us already have more affinity with the land and sea than people who have no interest in the countryside and what it has to offer... Like I say, no big changes but possibly big changes of the way we think and behave... little things count, Sid G looking out for neighbours, Ted's wife putting out food boxes etc... surely we shouldn't have to wait for a "crisis" before we act properly...f**k all to do with colour, race or religion either...just some decent morals and a better way of living.. 5 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Cheers Arry Agreed, but I was talking about folks saying that there will be a reset in light of how fragile industrial food supply clearly is. I mean if that happened throughout society then yeah great, everything would be more robust, but it won't. Having a small holding for your own production might sound like a shrewed move to the same end but if the end times ever does come, all those townies will descend like locusts. But I'm not thinking the world will change as a whole.... people are lazy and generally ignorant (all of us if we are honest with ourselves). But if people grow some tomatoes in the conservatory, or collect berries and fruit in season and preserve, beach comb, fish, eat the rabbits they catch..etc etc... its small things by possibly a minority but it's something.... Frankly, it’s a good thing as in times of shortage it gives us room to optimise and get by. If we were normally super efficient, at a time of hardship we’d have no room to improve and therefore survive.
