Guard dogs

Some people, I think it's the Norwegians, have seen the way things are going for the rottie and have introduced minimum sizes for the head

Thanks to the moron legislators in the UK Parliament, since 2016 you can get 6 months if someone fears that your dog will injure them and 5 years if it does injure them + death sentence for dog in both cases. This includes trespassers / those with criminal intent on your property  https://www.gov.uk/control-dog-public   Not sure what the record of enforcement on this has been like.

Its getting worse here, turning into a nanny state,in a time guard dogs are almost a necessity.But its the poor old dog doing his job that always pays the ultimate price.

Like all dog legislation in this country, it's an absolute mess, so vague in it's wording a good brief should shred it to bits. One bit of it " a dog is dangerously out of control if someone thinks it might injure them". I've been walking dogs and people have freaked out when I've been feet away, in these peoples opinion a dog just walking might injure them judging by their  reaction. When we were growing up, we got the odd bite, we didn't demand the dog be put to sleep, we were told to be more careful and we knew which dogs to avoid!

Same here,mum would tell you,don't go near that dog it will bite,end of story.I've been bitten multiple times by my wife's chihuahuas,and knocked out twice,winded and smashed into by the running dogs,The guard dogs have never put a mark on me,yet people say their dangerous around the family.To me running dogs are unintentionally dangerous around small kids.

Thats true enough , mine took my 12 year old son out the other night , both legs straight up in the air and lad ended flat on his back ..... obviously kept the lamp on the rabbit , which the dog caught i hasten to add before checking on the boy

Wouldn’t have a Shepard as a guard dog seen couple them things jack. Saw one get loosed on a lad running from a football fight and lad span round kicked it strait in the head the dog rolled got up and ran strait back to its handler . Wouldn’t have one them big dopey looking bully types that just eat loads and shit loads

Nothing inperticular , I don’t need a dog of the sort of caliber that these lads are talking about , the original post is about guard dogs , any dog that barks and alerts me that there is someone around is good enough for me if they can wake me up or alert me that there someone there I’ll do the rest , and if I’m not there and someone came snooping about then it doesn’t really matter what dog I got if they want it bad enough they will get it . Seen collie /lurches/ mongrels / terriers dogs not let people in gardens and who would bite if someone did .
