Honestly king, I really am not one for the lamp. But when I used to go regularly, I could tell what was in front of me by the way the dog was behaving, before I turned the lamp on

I still walk some places under a full moon without a lamp because of nosey neighbours  it's surprising just how much gear you do bump in to just under a moon and how much you can see that would normally be gone when lamped

My problem is I can't see to the end of the beam with a Striker170, glad the dog can, sometimes its pot luck if I've got the quarry in the beam ffs.

I have the odd night gps on the dog and just letting him loose in some areas its alright but not really sport is it lol.

And I'd still walk out without a lamp, just to see what my dog fetched back to me. Love it, even more so without a lamp
