riohog 5,905 Posted October 21, 2016 Report Share Posted October 21, 2016 Got to sail past gibralter yet, isnt it still a important naval base ? as long as they are outside territorial waters they do not need to explain there pasage it is classed as high seas .and i think gib only has roughly 2km of territorial waters .some old law . as gib is classed as a free port after it was taken from the spanish by britain in 1700s think it was queen anne that deemed it a free port the rest of the territorial waters are spanish ,complicated maritime law most territorial waters extend to 12 miles ,used to be 3 miles but i think that no longer exists 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Last time I was in Gib , Abramavich's yacht was moored up near our navel detachment ( a minesweeper and two rowing boats) and was thirty foot longer and had a helicopter....?
