No Apples This Year

Recommended Posts

I know a old farmer that got 10 apple trees in the field by the side of his drive hes always said for me to help myself.

When I was there last week i asked him where his old beagle dog was.

His reply - He passed away hes buried in the field with the rest of the good old dogs iv had over the years

When i looked across to the field there was a fresh new apple tree planted.

Sounds a good idea that! As above good old way to remember your old pals :)

Seen on the net you can do that for people now lol

:hmm::hmm: :hmm:

Bury them in a field and plant an apple tree on top?

I think you may find that has happened to a number of people over the years that the police are still looking for! :laugh::thumbs:

I agree with the circle of life theory on this one,those trees are planted as a reminder,what better then to have apples forever and smile at the memories those dogs gave him whilst enjoying them,i understand you leaving the most recent tree for a bit but tuck in and enjoy the fruit of that dogs labour my friend!! :thumbs:

Strangely, I also buried my wonderful ridgeback, who died aged 14, in the orchard on his bed with his favourite rubber bone - someone will wonder about that in years to come. Seemed the right thing to do.

They do that on my patch at work. "Life for a life", costs about 500£ a tree. RSPB are just getting in on the act now too and have opened a bit of land up for the same thing. You can put your loved ones ashes in with the tree.

11 apple trees = 11 dogs that farmer may of had if he's put one under each tree?

that is a very nice idea . I plan to bury my fella on a south facing bank covered in bracken and hazel with lots of blue bells. Its where my old JR is and its stunning on a spring day. Gives me a tingle every time I pass it
