The THL fight club

Just got back from my lads first fight.  Think I was more nervous than him!

Opinion from me who has never followed boxing and didn't even know who these men were until my 9 year old explained it all earlier tonight....

The fights leading up to the big one were brilliant, totally edge of the seat stuff from men who you couldn't help but admire. Each had different styles and I really enjoyed watching them all. One young fighter, think he was called Martinez, really stood out, he lost on points but for some reason he shone through for me, kept taking real punches but never missed a beat and kept his cool even when taking shots. The last one before the fury/Paul fight was also brilliant, the older man coming through and beating the champion, it went right up to the wire as well.

The 'big one'. It was like watching world famous singers, then the top bill being taken by a duo doing karaoke. Total farce. They both gave it everything like and were knackered. The fact that the professionals were a side show to fckin love island and YouTube stars could of been a metaphor for the state of modern life.....sad state of affairs and an insult to the men who fought before them.

It's big business, less of a sport now

If a person is financially secure for the rest of their lives, where is the real hunger and determination going to come from, fighters fight their way out of the gutter, and out of the dole queue

Again from a non boxing fan I'm surprised all the professional fighters, judges, refs, commentators and ring announcers are prepared to have their name associated with a pantomime.

Sadly professional boxing is turning into a circus mate, the heavyweight division mostly
