tillylamp 1,809
we all have heard of lenny (the governor) mcclean and all knew he loved a good unlicensed fight along with bare knuckle fights as well, when he was 4 years old his dad left, and when he was 5 his stepdad moved in, at 5 years old his stepdad broke his legs, at 6 years old his stepdad broke his jaw, at 7 he broke, something like, his arms, and so on, so he got to a point when he was full of anger,( then borstal and prison,) and said, that's it, no one is ever gonna hurt him again, in comes the fighting, my question is, do you think someone could of taken him under there wing and turned him into a good licensed pro boxer? or is it that the no holes barred gave him his drive to inflict the pain on others that he had, had as a child, what are other peoples thoughts, could he of turned it around! Good post.Lenny clearly had the tenacity and fire in him even if he was brought up in a totally safe loving caring environment.you can't want to be a real hard b*****d it's either in you or it ain't. And maybe yes if he was taken to the gym from an early age and really liked boxing someone would of seen the potential and internal animal brewing away and channeled that in the right way.

yorkshire 151
That Shaw fight where he bangs him non stop is amazing , how could you stop a man like that (with your bare hands) . trouble with fellas like Lenny is when they get pissed off and lose it they nearly kill some poor soul , not like a thick ear that you can apologise next day . I would like to hear gnashers take on him if he knew him ? To be a top dog in that era and area must have taken some holding down ..
