Iv often wondered the point in adding something to look at breeding it out?

Iv got a collie grey x beardy grey x grey at the minute and he's plenty quick enough and doing ok if the injuries stay at bay, but on the other hand if he's sat in kennel he won't learn.

So far I don't think he's too clever. Always time for that to change I suppose but I think it would of happened by now.

I'm hoping to get hold of a collie bred lurcher next year, hence me question the half x types and their ability. As mine at the minute work out as 3/4

For me the collie infusion represents Stamina ,intelligence, good feet and coat and temperament . The greyhound for obvious reasons, after being a die hard collie greyhound man for years I tried a bull cross stud a few years back and I was very happy with the pups, so much that I have got a litter here out of a very similar bred stud.

My 1st cross bitch is too intelligent sometimes and the little bit of bull x seems to cancel a bit of that out.

Photos of my bitch and a few pups from the last litter.

The brindle one with the white collar is a nice stamp ;)

I never really look in to percentages because iv seen dogs from the same litter look and act totally different , it's a lottery pick your breeding and hope for the best I say it usually comes down the bloke holding the lead !

right about the percentages nothing cut and dry in dog world but can have the best of breeding and best man behind the lead but if the dog aint got it in it to develope you aint gonna get very far. I truly believe a good dog man will get best out of that said animal but you cant polish a turd and unfortunatly many turds even come out of the best of breeding

all depends the lines you get them from ,and what are parents like, bred them for twenty two years roughly , very good allround dogs ,it helps if you are very good with understanding dogs and training them , probaly the best mixture ive saw for hare roe rabbits pheasants ,all depends the acsses to game you have and the knowledge to bring the best out in any dog that helps a lot,
