They will have read how he two dogs were off the lead and how the cocker ran over and was the aggressor and unfortunately came second place. They will also read how the OP was very kindly going to pay for the vet bill but now since greed is involved they can go f**k themselves. Situations in which the police can enter premises without a warrant include when they want to: deal with a breach of the peace or prevent it enforce an arrest warrant arrest a person in connection with certain offences recapture someone who has escaped from custody save life or prevent serious damage to property. The problem is that it the police officer can make these rules fit the situation and gain access. Best not be around and have the dog disappear for a while until you can find out for certain what you and the dog are being accused of, its a lot harder to argue your case if the dogs been seized. the police have NO powers the way they get around it is to arrest you then envoke section 33 then they can search the house vehicles etc and if they were to find the dog they would seize her and hand her over to the rspca and then the trouble would start Edited July 31, 2015 by TOPPER Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Apparently 'Our local station was contacted by the other Police force (were the fight happened) and asked to get the details of the owner and a photo of the other dog from the fight to save him having to drive over'. As theres only a few officers at our station and they were busy, the sergent sent the PCSO to deal wtih it. She didn't have the details of what happened, she was just asked to get the contact details of the owner and a photo of the dog. I've got the contact details of the officer in charge so will contact him in a bit and find out why after 6 weeks this has suddenly come up. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

The Police themselves wouldn't have a power of entry either. All dog bite incidents have to be checked now as the law has recently changed. The dog will not get put down even if it had bit the other dogs owner, unless of course it has done this before. If the man says he was bit and you say no he wasn't , without more proof then it aint going nowhere !! The Police do however have to check that the dog is not a banned breed and if you wont allow them to check, then that's when things will change. Beg to differ, Robbie. The police have extensive powers to enter premises without a warrant. When they say "Can we come in ?", its a rhetorical question, mate ! I had given my wife the money to pay the bill but turns out she hadn't.... As the guy thought the bill wasn't going to be paid, looks like he's contacted the police and said the dog bit him. The officer comes on duty at nine so i'll just phone and sort it out. I'm not spending my life needlessly hiding my dog or jumping every time the door gets knocked.
