wuyang 513
Couple of his whippets around my end........nice dogs, somewhere along his line there has definitely been the addition of some bull blood, it stands out a mile in some of them, one near me does more dropping and stalking than a border collie. Slow for whippets and no more keener than your average pedigree whippet. Most whippets will work and work hard, not just mb's. Edited June 19, 2013 by wuyang 3 Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
The breeder of my pup looked at a few whippets, before going for the MB Dog, his reason for choosing him was, He is a really good worker. he is passing this on to his progeny, when breeding to Whippets or Lurchers. And his conformation. very well muscled Dog. Whether this has been the right choice, we will just have to wait and see. The Dog is KC reg, regarding the accusations of MB using Bull and Greyhound Blood. doesn't work any of his Dogs. And his Whippets are Slow. I know nothing, Ive never met the man, or spoke to him, or seen his dogs working. But im not blinded by MB as my last Whippet, was more or less Sooty Sam free. BPR I know you have asked this question, does he work his Dogs on another forum, why are you so interested.? On the subject of working, the more a dog is out, the better for it, does this mean that someone like myself who is retired, and ferrets three times a week, had a better whippet, than all the lads who can only manage one day at the weekend, because of work commitments? Phil Lloyd 10,739
The Whippets that I have seen ,..bred down from MB's types,..have been similar to the big strong, powerhouse rabbiting dogs, that we had back in the 1970s/1980s...Such animals were the firm favourite of most local mouchers.....I like em... 3 Quote Link to post
wuyang 513
To think that no bull has been added because they are pedigree is laughable. Nice whippets, but there's bull in there full stop....nothing against it just saying its there plain and simple. 2 Quote Link to post

lifelong cumbrian 1,829
My mate has a kc whippet dog pup out of the same sire as my 3/4 whip/beddy pups. We wont be giving these pups to much this season as we have older dogs that do good enough for us ferreting. But when we start working these pups they will get a lot of ferreting, it will be interesting to see how they compare with one being pure whippet and the other 3/4 bred got with the same dog. I used a Mike Brown bred dog as it does all I require and also passes this onto his pups. I also like many other lines of working whippet, my mate a great little Nimrodel bitch. I don't know Mike Brown but I have chosen to use his breeding and so far I am totally happy with the pups I got. Time will tell and if they don't make the grade it might be as much to do with my bitch as the anything else but I only have positive thoughts at present. People also have different opinions of if a dog is a average/great or top notch worker. Personally I am not bothered what people think of my dogs, I enjoy them working and as pets and that is my only concern. My mates kc pup 11 months 22". My pup I kept. Dam 18 1/2" beddy x 3/4 whip 1/4 grey x Mike Brown bred whippet same sire as above kc whip pup. Pup is 14 weeks 16 1/2" 10kg. 2 Quote Link to post

hillbilly boy 109
I've never read any post saying mike is a great worker of dogs but many people stating that his lines produce good working dogs maybe not everyone's type of dog but they suit me and what I do at the end of the day the dog has only got to please 1 person no matter what lines the breeding is Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
Dont really wish to be drawn in, but ive been on a few forums for a number of years and regarding Whippets and crosses i don't come across many posts stating MB is a great worker of Dogs. they are usually dogs of his breeding, with posts of lads working them. or the old chestnut Sooty Sam. bryanm45 787
There must be hundreds of people who seen his dogs work as so many people used SS over there bitches you would of hoped there'd seen this dog work to use him, or was it Chinese whispers, and the emperor's new clothes, or clever marketing on MB part.
