  4. know what you mean giro and ferretman this dog seems to have no end to its talents, I have always been a collie cross devoatee but if this dog or another of its type where to be crossed with a greyhound or greyhound/whippet I think I would be in line for a pup, a dog that has incredible nose more than capable of finding and catching its own rabbits marks sets with the best of them and better than most, as the intelligenice to know when not to give chase and the caperbilaty to tackle bigger things, work with a gun on any thing from pigeons up over and set about any one you dont want around your
  5. chippers dogis a malinois[belgian sheperd]I have hunted a number of times with cipper and this dog, it is truely an exellent rabbiting dog with unbeliveable drive and just lives to catch rabbits, even after a full day on the moor when lurcher have long faded fizz just keeps on going
  6. now thats my idea of a lurcher, good luck with it
  7. I with tote, I own a animal feed store so have tryed most dog complet meals and all the redmills feeds losen up my dogs racer, tracker, excel and worker, even though on paper redmills is a very good quality feed, Ive found the best complet meal to be sneyds original even though its only24% protien there shites like rock easy to clean up and the dogs seem to do well on it
  8. I have never been a lover of large dogs , and I keep hearing how large dog are no good on rabbits, my thoughts are if it can get its head to a food bowl why not a rabbit, has for 1/4 collies being too heavy to make a rabbiting dog,I have seen pure collies catch rabbits, not on a golf course, but on land where they can hunt up and find there own rabbits, a man I rabbit with at the moment works a malinois[ belgian shepard] when rabbits are bolted for the dogs she is not far behind when my 3/8 collie snaps up a bunny but through the day she will find and catch many rabbits her self to even the sc

  11. JLM is not the ferret box company, but they do make ferret boxes though not to the same standard in my opinion, the ferret box company have not yet got there web site up and running, but I can vouch for them,I have a animal feed store and a joinery business, we used to make our own ferret boxes but now are supplyed by them theres no way we can match the quality or price our selves
  12. cheers J Darcy thats some thing I mist of me post, two pups at once is not a good ideatwo pups run together some times tend to bond with each other instead of you, also you tent to favour one pup over the other
  13. chlakwarren has made a good point in {genuine}a lot of 1/4X 3/4 are not all there said to be like a lot in the world of luchers, also where is the collie blood from, most collies will through a half decent pup, but you want a true farm collie, from lines that have been bred for years and years to run up hill and down dale from getting up to going to bed
  14. SJM is right in some cases 1/4 collies dont have the stamina but many do, I have a 3/8 collie bred by typp ratcher, she is a exellent little bitch still only 11 months old and taking rabbits in open fields but mainly on hilly moor land worked with ferrets, she is also more that capable of finding her own rabbits, she as a very good turn of speed and stamina to spare, I have always run collie crosses first and second cross but would certainly take a chance on another 3/8
  15. Im with dittchy, but I hand reared a litter this year, albinos poleys mixed and they have all turned out very nippy, dont know if this is because the think ever time they see a hand they think food, any one else had the same experience
  16. my old dog shits him self big time, this year I got a product in the shop called M&C Serene-UM, comes in drops or tablets, its recommended by vets for travel sickness, thunder storms and fire works so the box says
  17. surely the farmer must know who owns the land , just go and ask the land owner, if he has rabbit fenceing up already he dosent want the rabbits there any way
  18. Lads Im afraid thats the going price for mark 1 finders, I sell them in my shop and can not get enough of them
  19. there are some that live very happy together with some bunny and a hedgehog and a couple of doormice in farthing wood
  20. Ditchy I have my own joinery buisness while the lads make things to make me money I make what ever I want to. i did think about making it twice as deep and slopping the tunnels that way the box could be sunk in the ground. we also have a corn merchant selling animal feeds if any of the dog lads or keepers come in with an idea it doesn't take much for me to stop work and start on a new project such as yours.
  21. Ditchy heres a picture of the trap based on your idea but without the digging i just need to find some rats now.
  22. theres an old dear down the end of our street has an MG she gos like f..k I cant keep up with her in my trany
  23. your right we know every things faster down there that why we stay up here, our rabbits are slower and easyer to catch, but our dogs are slower to, but we get by.some one told me they had seen one of them new carts the other day the ones with the rubber wheels and lights and he recons it had a motor in it too, ya right thats what newcastle brown does to you
