  1. Rach did hear your dogs turned up in Newton Aycliffe do you know where abouts and by who
  2. A lot of my sets are in sheep fields out in the open and only 9 to 12 inches deep, the spades idea, you just push it in four times to make a circle and pull it out like a plug take out your rabbit and replace the turf plug, you can hardly tell it been dug
  3. you cant beat getting that bit more permission, shows your doing some thing right, whats the most rabbits you got out of one hole, often got twos and threes, but once got seven from a dig all bottled up nose to tail and it was a one hole set, must have been a full litter of 3/4 grown rabbits never done any where near it since
  4. Frank you could be right about pepole not wanting to dig as well, Ive had the same rabbiting spade for, well it seems like ever, its a steel shafted trenching graft cut down to half its lenght, the blade that is, and in to the cutting edge in the centre is a semi circle about 2 inches wide, the edge of this is filed down like a blade to cut through tree roots, its is a little on the heavy side, but I have a loop of baleing twine tied to it like a shoulder strap, I would not be with out it
  5. I enjoy a good dig,I still get very excited when the dial on the box is just about to click of and you know your inches away from your prize, and then when that little bit of soil gives way and the spade slides in to the chamber, it spurs me on to dive in with my hand to grab hold of bunnys back leggs and pop him out like a cork.Great love it
  6. Frank I talked to chipper at lenght about this and agree with what he says, but still find folk comeing in to my shop most weeks how still belive theres no need for a locator

  16. ditchy just sat having a cup of tea and reading your thead, got to thinking, why not make the hole thing out of plywood, make a 3ft box 8inches high with the 4 tunnles meeting in the centre at a baiting cage say 8inches square, with a lift off lid, no digging Im a lazy b*****d!!, right Im off to make onepost the pics on here later see what you think
  17. to answer the question I should have in stead of ranting, Im not lead by what I read on the net, because I know Im always right,[well most of the time ?some of the time? maybe]any way, yesI can see how some folk can be swayed after all its no different to when pepole got info from books, pepole think if its writen down some were by some one how nows better then it has to be true

  21. well said Chalkwarren there are good dog of all breeds and crossbreeds some are born good some are made good, by better men than my self, but like you say to have a conversation with folk not on your wavelength is near impossible, also pepole are not always all they say they are, or even how they say they are. Saying that the best dog in my oppinion is blah blah blah
