  1. Get on pellet perfect and save yourself some money
  2. Yes excellent gun! Mine was good straight from the box too, but I have fettled her to smooth out the cocking and firing cycle and she is just a joy to use. I found the best pellet for mine is bisley LRG, jsb rs are good too, a little patchy with some other top pellets though. Great fun compared to the heavier springers
  3. Yes mate. In the city and Bingley book. Hopefully an accidental barbel might make it's way on to my hook too!
  4. Decided I'm going to aim for a 5lb chub from my local river this year. Had a couple of sessions just roving with breadflake and found a few decent spots (overhanging willows) that have produced a few good chub so far the biggest at 3lb so far pictured below. I'll keep this thread updated as to how I get on. This river has chub at just under the 6lb mark so a 5 would be amazing
  5. I think online shopping has a huge part to play too
  6. Local one near me is selling all his stock and retiring. I doubt it will get reopened as a tackle shop...
  7. Yeh I get what you are saying JD, but I just want to be able to nip somewhere for a couple of hours fishing on an evening- when I get chance to go for the day it's always the coast for me.
  8. Yep. Had 2 versions now and read about 5 other books by him, great writer
  9. Ey up folks. Just bought a local year book which has a section of the local river that contains barbel. Nothing huge, upto 5-6lb from what I hear, but I'm quite keen to get one, as I've never caught one or had the opportunity to before. I'm just after some advice on simple but effective rigs and tactics and swims to look out for Cheers
  10. While your stripping it adjust the trigger unit then, then you can cock the trigger and test it safely
  11. Not that I don't believe you but that is a very bold claim, noise wise
  12. The accupel ft's were running at 10.9ft/lbs, whereas the ftt's were about 10.3ft/lbs, might be worth checking the power if you use them
  13. Your right jonnieI recon about % of a good tune is sorting the spring out, removing the whap and Spring bounce! = a more consistent output and manageable /predictable recoil! Which can be done at home easily with ptfe sheets and spacing the preload out! Never fettled a hw springer but they can't be far removed from a tx which is a pice of pi55 Have a crack at it yourself te-duke Watch shooting at dawn on YouTube, great bloke and good videos by a real springer man! Atb si Not as easy to remove the trigger and no glided piston but other than that pretty much the same! I've recently
  14. Whatever you do get a kit that fits the spring. So if you intend to buy a kit without a spring send the spring off to them to machine the guides exactly (I.e. Tinbum tuning) or buy a kit with a spring supplied. I've had 2 tbt kits that were not a good fit for the factory spring. Not dissing tbt as he will machine the guides bespoke if you send him the spring.
  15. Haha sounds about right walshie! I bet they switch up the rules every season too. Bloody salmon fishers
  16. ah right so no floats with salmon? Unfortunately bud it's not just that straight forward. Sometimes you can use a float with a prawn or worm for salmon, but it all depends on the club rules really they are usually annoyingly specific. Sorry I can't be more help than that! Be careful with your rod license too, to fish for salmon you would need a migratory fish license which are fairly expensive. All the best with it
  17. He might be on about the salmon fishing fella.
  18. If you don't mind me asking U how do you go about doing that?
  19. Have to agree with you there greyman nicely put sir
  20. Tell me about it. You can imagine my frustration after going from a tin of FTT's to a tin of exacts wondering if there was something inherently wrong with the gun- until the LRG and FAP group. The weird bit is, the exacts made the gun 'feel' horrible. Like, more recoil and even a bit of twang. This is a standard 99 so I can only assume that the longer barrel has it's part to play in the pellet preference.
