  1. I love the classic looks of the HW77 and am very pleased to be a proud owner that I will keep for many a long year.
  2. Think the first thing I should do is get one of them little mini chrono thingys that straps to the end of the gun. Where will I get one at a good price and are they good enough to measure a gun rebuild ?
  3. Hello villaman Why a short stroke, would that not loose some of the swept volume and some power ?.
  4. So we don't just pump em full of grease LOL. I have been doing some looking around and it's all very interesting. Do you think SFS would push me to the front of the list if I bung him a fiver LOL.
  5. HW77 and HW95 to sort out. I would love to have SFS sort out my rifles one at a time but I know he is real busy guy, any one know what the average turn around is ?. Yes I could give him a call but while he is talking to me he could be working to get on top of things. SFS would be my first choice but there will be others some of which I have heard horror stories about but no one has a bad word for SFS. If I had a time machine to take me to a time when the rifles could be ready and then transform me back to the here and now, I would jump at the chance. Option two choose one of the others ?. Opt
  6. When you start using the Nikon you will be pleased you got it. I was. The BDC set up is nice to look through and it dose not block your view.
  7. Nice rifle, my mate has a very old hw97 and it shoots very sweet compared to my new hw77. I have bought a hw95 to be going on with so I have a gun to use while I get the 77 worked on. Has your rifle got better with age and has it been worked on to make it more refined ?. I find the 77 heavy for stand up shooting free'hand. May be the heavy guns are not made for that. I know I need to practice a lot but can't help feeling the 77 has a lot to give but it needs working on to get the best out of it. Dose the sling work without pulling the under lever open ?. I noticed the scope mount looks li
  8. Put it this way, have you ever wondered where all those coat hangers come from that clog the house up or the new top that she says she got in the sale ?. I don't think they need to know the in's and outs of a mans world and I choose not to be bothered about what she buys. I think men are from Mars and women are from...........well I really don't know. I hope you had a really good night to cellerbrate..............getting the new gun and staying married.
  9. Hello Ludders I like the HW80 as well but already have a heavy one it's a hw77. If I ever get used to shooting the heavy ones free'hand I will add one to the collection.
  10. Ok so it's Friday night and all was well. I must have been tired the other night and the more I shot the worse I got. I got to grips with it tonight and could even hit the targets free'standing although I had much more fun sitting down.
  11. After a bad night on the second distance in the long barn, I made a good come back tonight.
  12. Hello guys I have had a great time in the long barn tonight with the HW95 and the Nikon pro staff 7. I have been knocking them down like tent pegs hitting all the targets nice and sweet, then to top it off I court sight of a skemy in the next barn where a wall sheet is missing and it was almost dark and took the shot and it was spot on. All is well in springer world now I have it shooting sweet.
  13. Was that comment the Elephant in the room. Was it the word Tuner or was it the turn around time ?
  14. Thanks, I will have to keep at it. Any one recommend a tuner with a 4 week turn around ?.
  15. The mount seems to be doing a great job, I am very pleased with it. I do think it should have come with some instructions for new starters like me.
  16. Do they call them break barrel because when you can't shoot straight you want to break them lol. What a 5hit night I could not put then in the bull. I wish I cold find a tuner with a quick turn around ? I know that I need to practice but that wont stop the HW's twanging. I have used a gun that's sorted and now it's haunting me.
  17. Good evening I have been back in the barns shooting down it's length which is about 26 yards. I have not altered it's position from last night because it was quite close and could not tell weather it was me moving, I could only get them in a fist size group. I have come home thinking I can't shoot for toffy and the gun is just a jumpy little b*****d. I hope I have a better night tomorrow. If I had not had the loan of a really well sorted old HW97 that could knock the tops off bottles at the same distance I was shooting tonight I may well think thing were going ok. Do you have bad days whe
  18. Could you do a camo wrap or a carbon fibre wrap ?
  19. Ok so I have the Nikon Pro staff 7 on my hw95 and it is sitting in a Sportsmatch one piece DM70 mount. I have started to zero across the barn tonight which is about 15 yards. I will move the target out tomorrow to fine tune the scope. This is the first one I have done as there were plenty of shooters on the farm where I do some contracting (Carpenter/joiner and builder). I am working on another contract this week but am popping in after work and just setting the scope up without all the lads trying to help which is great but if I don't do it myself I will not learn. BTW The Nikon is for me
  20. You've made the right choice my man. Have you gone purist with a 30/30 or the BDC? Hello Rez I went for the BDC because I thought I could use the circles for hold over when I get used to it. The mount and the scope seem a good match. The scope is great to use and will only be better when I get out of the dark barns. I give it a first zero at about 15 yards which is about as wide as the barns are. I will have another go tomorrow down the length of the barn and then outside to look for skemies.
  21. I have just got home after my first zero of the scope at 15 yards which is about the width of the barn. I used H&N field target trophy which are what I have used in the hw77 and the HW 95 seems to like them. What distance should I go for on the next zero tomorrow, it's a .22.
  22. I managed to get the Nikon Prostaff 7 mounted on the hw95 tonight, sportsmatch dampa one piece mount. It all feels good quality. Will start to zero after work tomorrow. It seems to have took ages to get to this point.
  23. Hello guys I have just put the sportsmatch DM70 one piece mount on the HW95 tonight. There was no instructions so have used my hw77 as a guide position for the mount. I put it on loose and checked it out and it feels in a good position. I have give the dovetail clamp screws a good nip but have not gone mad. I don't know how tight to set the scope tube clamps so I held the allen key with the short part between two fingers so I could not get enough torque to cause any damage to the scope tube. Any advice guys ?
  24. The pictures on the website are generic, not necessarily the one you get. The sportsmatch catalogue I have shows 4 screws for the rail clamp. John. Thanks for the help John, I am sure it is going to be a good set up. The sealed package has RWS printed on the inside of the wrapping ?. Why do you go for single mounts ?
  25. Is there a way you could avoid visual contact with the foot path and be shooting away from it. Bloody ramblers are a pain in the butt. Avoid them at all cost as they are just trouble in the making.
