  1. I have been shooting in the barns after work and the light is low but when I use my mates hw97 with it's very old Tasco scope with it's 50mm lens things seem much sweeter than my 40 hawkehd.
  2. Intel inside, it would seem that the HW95 internals are well up to the job and bore and stroke are just above the 77/97. Life with the springers has just taken a turn for the better.
  3. I have been plinking most nights after work but have no scope on it yet, I am still hitting an a4 sheet of paper from one side of the barn to the other from a standing position. I find this rifle fits me like a glove and being a hw95k I have not noticed any flip that people report. Not sure what will happen when I get a scope on ?
  4. Hello Rez The link takes us to the Nikon 4.5-14x40 sf niko plex ret for 199, is that the one to go for ? I had been looking at the Prostaff 3-9x50 rifle scope bdc, what you think ? Are the Bushnell legend 3-9x50 crap as no one has spoke up for them ? Evening. Ner, Bushnell are mint. Its all just preference. They will be as good as each other. Get that Prostaff and you'll not look back... its somewhat an acquired taste mind, but its proper understated glass, units are real sturdy too. Id go for the BDC, but if your a purist, and they are rare these days, go for the 30 / 30 niko
  5. I have done a bit of looking around and this is what was said......H&N FTT for HW95k. This is what I use in the 77 so it would be good to use them in both if they are the ones to use. They also sad..... Bis long range gold,Falcons,Web acupell, Bis mag/ H&Nbarracuders and Weirauch made by H&N. Are the H&N made in Germany ?. I have a mate who uses the Wasps in a blue tins he has loads of them, I think he will have bought a load years ago because he spends most of his time with shot guns these days, he says they are the same as H&N FTT ?.

  7. I've put my HW77 into an HW97 stock like this one and the handling is absolutely superb. So I'd love a try-out with this Chieftain and add one to my collection. But the shooting Davy's put in here is really first class. 64 yards on a bottle top is really pushing it. I really like the way Sandwell Field Sports have finished off the muzzle here. Looks a cracking rifle in all respects. But then, it's a 77/97 tuned rifle from Tony Wall so what else should we expect?!! Hello Pianoman I missed owning one from villamans mate, I think by one night or so. I think they are only in .177 an
  8. Is there no takers on the Bushnell Legend HD rain guard, good points or bad ? I can't find a test on the Nikon Field master that Rez give me the link for.
  9. I have been looking at the price point of the Nikon and bushnell legend and think that is ok for a springer but when you look at the bushnell ellite at 550 uttings think that is a step to far for an air rifle of my type. What makes them worth the money ?. On the 200 ish price point is there any 30 mm tube and is that worth bothering with ?.
  10. No scope on yet but feels real good I am very pleased.
  11. Well I hit the barn straight after work to put some time in with the new gun. No scope 40 feet plinking and getting them all onto an a4 size paper sheet standind up. Real sweet just need to get a scope on it. What pellets for the Hw 95 ?
  12. Well I have been looking real hard and very happy with what I have got but think springers are springers and can not be compared with pcp JMO. I was told that the Walthers were the best out of the box for the money and think it's true but are heavy, that's why I mentioned weight. good look with your search.
  13. So what about the Bushnell legend 3-9x40 at £215 or Nikon prostaff field master 4.5-14x40. Is it worth pushing the boat out to go up from 25mm tube to 30mm tube and dose the blow the cost out of the water. Can the Nikon stand a bit of rain.
  14. Hello Pianoman I noticed you have a Nikon Field master, what is it like. I think of Nikon camera lenses which are great ?
  15. Hello there I have just got a HW 95 and I think it's the muts nuts. Do you want heavy or light ? PS when you say out of the box, I am sure a pro tune will improve it.
  16. Thanks for the help there is some great choices so far, the Varmint sf well it's hard not to just go out and buy one. On my list was Bushnell Legend hd 3-9x40 rain guard and the Nikon. Then it was go through the Hawke ranges, I had not seen the Varmint which looks good for the money and I wish I had got that one for my other rifle. Rez great prices from uttings would that be the place to buy from ? Good reduction on Nikon.
  17. What pellet for the HW95 please.
  18. I had a quick look in the gun shop on Saturday but they were set up with Hawke sport hd's and I have one on the other rifle so wanted a change. There was a few others but soon found myself out of my depth so backed off to ask you collective advice. I have not put a price on the job yet. had a quick look on google and there was talk of mid priced scopes ? what is the cost of a mid priced scope ?
  19. Hello Rez I have googled this one and it looks interesting, I will put that one on my list and try it out. cheers.
  20. Hello villaman I have a sport HD IR 3-9x40 IR with mill dot ret so was wanting to move more to the middle ground for a change. I am not sure what the middle ground is. I don't have an open price to spend but if I find one that will fit the bill I could save a bit longer and get it.
  21. Thanks for the reply When you say how much do you want to spend it's more a question of how much will I have to spend to get the job done ? How much should will I need to pay.
  22. Hello guys I need your help again.et I now have another springer, the first one I fitted a Hawke HD3-9x40 mill dot ret. I thought I would ask the question this time to help make a more informed choice. Information to help choice is :- New HW95 Use in low light, Small hunting, target practice to help with hunting. May be in wet weather. use with small lamp fixed on. want it to last a long time. use close distance in barn and out in the fields up to the point I can shoot (newish but hope to get better) I like the idea of the mil dot in my other scope. not sure about IR or AO. I now y
  23. happy new gun to me hw95k, and now for the next question. What pellets go well in a hw95 ?
  24. Hello guys I missed another second hand hw this morning so this afternoon I spent just a little bit more and got a nice new hw95k.
  25. Hello Rick I just have a mentel block as to what to do at the moment, I know I want the hw77 hand built but can't go that long without a rifle. I have been testing other hw's as a mate to the 77 which to some people may seem mad as the 77 is great. I have narrowed it down to a hw95k which comes with a silencer fitted and seems to suite me very well. I had thought about looking locally for a gun smith/ engineer to do some hand building. The other option is to keep looking for a rifle that has been worked on so I could use it straight away. My head is in a spin but what usually happens when I
