j316 Flipping right pal. It must be said that if you cannot tell the difference between quarry, wood pigeon, and personal racing pigeons, then you should not be out there. Anyone killing birds that fly, trying to get home deserve a right bollocking,
What a pleasure it has been to be part of the Hunting Forum and may I take this opportunity, from myself and all of my family, to wish each and everyone of you A very Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year.
WELL Walshie. Kind of agree but struggling just a little. I've this mental picture of a feral pigeon in a tree (which I kn ow ain't gonna happen) with a backstop of What?? Your telling me that you are shooting from the ground at a target that is in the air? Come on mate that isn't going to happen. Even on the barracks range, shooting at up to 400 ,mts we have a man made mountain as a backstop. I remember the RO screeching 'Who the fckk is that shooting when a round went way too high. So a pellet at a pigeon just doesn't cut it.
Just as an aside. How the hell do you stop a pellet leaving your property?? If you miss your shot , how do you stop the pellet. Doesn't make sense to me.
j316/ Try telling that to all the inner council pest control people who are tasked with getting rid of pigeons. Naturally flock birds, can you honestly tell me that they, or any other shooter would or could see a ring. In all the years Iv'e been shooting, and a lot has been on pigeon, Iv'e never seen ferals mixing with wood pigeon. Yes in the same field but not intermingled. This by the way not as an argument but as an observation.
What a bunch of wingnuts, Get o n the bike and enjoy life, Iv;e a Honda Blackbird sitting in the garage waiting fir it's next ride out. Can't because of a wee problem with no feeling in my hands.Wish I was in your position.
Incidentally you can shoot where you can float was not on the agenda. That was a Great Grandfathers saying. Not the same thing as gaining access without trespass.
Walshie. A feral pigeon does not land in trees. (I know I know you didn't say that.) Thing is ferals will only alight in or on buildings or on arable land to feed. So, Presumably in your case it is the latter. If it ain't then they are either collared doves or woodpigeon. My brother in law WOULD take exception to you shooting his racing pigeons. As to a pellet leaving your property, Someones having a laugh.
Well son I think youv'e done the right thing. Now all you have to worry about is getting old which your new jacket won't do. Have a lovely Xmas and a Happy new year. Jok and Family here in Derbyshire.
Had a little bit of an ask around. No one can own the ocean as it is owned by the Crown. Waterways leading into the ocean (seas) cannot be owned. Highways and byways are controlled by local councils or unmade roads generally owned by farmers etc as right of way. Therefore, as I mentioned earlier, it would appear that if you gain access to the foreshore by way of non trespass then you are OK. However. What you do when you get there is another matter. There are seasons for every wildfowl and obviously non shootable quarry. I'd be very interested to hear from the men that know.
