So, Tell Us, What Are Ye All At In The Veg Garden?
jok replied to JohnGalway's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
Flipping right on. Never gave it a thought. Next though I need to understand how that has made such a difference if indeed that is the cause. Are you suggesting the ground has been softened up too much I wonder? Jok -

Terry pal. Do not bag your onions. Grade them size wise I've biggest to smallest. Tie a piece of twine to a short stick, 6 ins ish, start with the biggest onion, (you MUST let the green tops die off to brown,) take the onion and twist the neck round the twine a couple of times and pull down. Do again, opposite then fill in the gaps. As you go on you will create an onion string which believe me helps to store them a lot better and you will be using them well into March. The Kelseas, of which I've grown about 200 need different storage because they do tend to soften up by late January. However, -
Am I allowed to post on here the plight of a 2 year old suffering with cancer? It's a tear jarker. Jok.

Strange old world. Got nearly the same collection in my garage which was meant to go to Derbs (previous texts). They can all be collected for a donation to a charity thing we are running for a 2 yr old mite who has cancer. Trying to raise enough to send him to America but it's a shit load of cash. (There must be 20 plus all to do with our sport).jok.

Made my first batch of horseradish sauce. No tears thankfully, slightly different from normal as in, added some garlic cloves, lemon juice, white wine vinegar and English mustard powder. Tastes lovely and lost the bite. Jok. -

That's th e secret. Control. I have an allotment neighbour who downsized from a full to a quarter plot. She thought that things would be a lot easier. How wrong can people be. The weeds grow at the same rate and need the same treatment all the time. Anyway, I think I'm taking it over to create a propagation unit for all the allotment holders. Kind of like a mini nursery. Choose the seed and variety and I'll grow them. We'll have to see how it goes.jok. -
Bet that Jim Beam came in handy.. Nice one and not a bad looking head either.jok.

I have got some pics but why is there hassle? I'm only doing this for a friend. By the way his box will be in the post in the morning. How are you anyway John. Got some interesting projects to get on with and Flacko needs to buy me a coffee.
-
Thank you so much. Your new rucksack box is nearly on it's way. Hope you enjoy. Jok.

Daft as it may sound, just done exactly that. My mate just collected his box along with his pickles and a few muntjac pies. On my drive we jumped on the box. You'd need a tank to destroy it. Lol.
-
You are a daft lot of boogers. I wouldn't let anything out of my workshop if it was sub standard. Go on gaz, get on the box with your little un and a couple of dogs. Might start something here lol. Jok.

I generally use as good a gin as is affordable since this is for my own use. The vodka I get comes in 1.5 ltrs , Chekov from the likes of Bookers. I've downsized the sugar content to 1/2 pond per bottle but use more fruit which I leave till the colour runs out.6/8 weeks. Bung in the vodka and put away in a dark place till November. Must say that I strain at least 3 times through muslin and I've heard that the Strawberry can be a bugger to get clear. Jok.

I know one thing for sure. You could do a dance on one of my boxes and it ain't giving way. However, the whole concept was to make a lightweight box capapable of carrying 3/4 ferrets in comfort with a central toolbox and be able to sit on it. I believe that was achieved. If someone wan'ts a heavy more robust box then they are just as easy to make. I'll have a go at anything the customer asks for. In fact just been asked for a small box with front opener to be carried in a rucksack. By all accounts, unzip the front panel and open the box. We'll see. Jok.

Well well. Now I know where one of my boxes is going. Keep up the pics. Loving it. Jok.

Nice comment. Jok

Not exactly sure what you mean. If the strap is too long shorten it. I measure the strap so it sits nice on anyone of normal size. I could have a look I suppose or have you an idea in mind? Jok.

It's coming round again. Any of you guys looking for a really good ferret box, extremely lightweight , double Bowback with with centre storage or poachers that you don't even know you are carrying. PM me. Look at my earlier posts and see what the guys have already said.

Hello sir. Missed you. Comments always welcome. ATB. Jok.

Well I just googled the breed and it says buccleuch English Springer Spaniel. Fact is English Springer Spaniel. Look at the breeding which includes, arguably, the best recent breeder, Ian Openshaw, so in fact as I said, the name is just a means to an end. This guy is using 3 known lines to comfort himself with a 'New Breed' of spaniel. At the end of the day they are what they are. Why blouse them up. Would you pay more for a buccleuch pup than an ordinary one from the Sporting gun classifieds or Countryman Weekly? I sincerely doubt it.
