I don't think so because our failures are mostly explained by the lack of stop-end on large places, the hunt is moving side to side until the dog withdraws or the badger escapes. As the badger moves, no need to locate precisely. When I fail, I try with another dog. And I come back another day until the luck arises. During the whole season, the failure due to my inability to locate my dog is just 2 or 3 times. Thus we are clearly powerless. I'll never change my way of hunt to boost my catchs from 69 to 72... Cheers Len Its a type of sea bream, a summer visitor from the med, they are quite common in the Dart estuary and some of the small estuaries in Cornwall, but I've not seen them in the Exe estuary before, heard a few rumours over the last few years but this is my first experience personally.. They can grow to a decent enough size plus 5lb up to around 8lb (I think the records around 9lb somewhere??)... and yes they are lovely eating as are black bream, better than bass IMO, nearly as nice as gurnard!! 90% of the time I'm out alone and only have one earth dog with me so she's loose with collar on from get go, on 3 different occasions last year after checking known dens, which looked active but dog was not interested, she instead found and entered previously unknown dens within a couple of hundred yards from known dens, small dens not very big or deep but without the dog they did not look active and would not have been found.
