  1. Many thanks guys. As ever, your opinions and advice are always welcome. It was always going to be the case that he was going to have to bring the bullets with him, but I wasn't too sure about the priming and charging. I'll play it safe and just prep the brass. I believe that he's only after 20 or so on each occasion, so I should be able to turn these out in no time while he waits. ATB Tremo
  2. Ay up Walshie. How's tricks? Yes, they will be expanding. 40gr Nosler BTs. You can count on my vote!
  3. As per the title chaps, when is 'a round' born? Is it when the bullet gets seated? I tell you why I ask ........ I have just started reloading a .222 for a mate. I don't have an allowance for a .222, so I suggested to him that I prep all the brass and then when I'm ready he can pop over and in his presence I can prime, charge the powder and seat the bullet. I had a thought this morning though. Maybe do a little more of the work without his presence - i.e. prime the cases and charge? What are your thoughts guys? Tremo
  4. Good shooting mate. Long snout on that one. It looks like a dog. Where did you hit him?
  5. Yes, apart from one or two vids on Youtube there seems to be very little street experience/knowledge on these rifles. They are well priced, but I am just a little twitchy. I'm after a 6.5x55.
  6. Wow! . I can't believe it. There is no one on here with any experience with this model. No worries, as it was always my intention to go for another Tikka anyway.
  7. I would give your force a call to find out mate. Waiting times vary substantially from force to force.
  8. Evening chaps. Has anyone had any experience with one of these rifles? I know that Bergara are renowned for their barrels, but I don't know much about the quality of their rifles. Cheers. Tremo
  9. Hi mate. In short all that you are doing is replacing the front lens with a camera lens. You will have to procure an adapter that allows the connection of the camera lens (SRB Grittum in the UK), but after that you can use whatever size camera lens that you want. A 55mm lens will give you about a x5 magnification. A 135mm lens will give you roughly a x12 magnification. Have a look on the Nightvision UK forum. You will find loads of threads on this topic there. There is also loads of discussions on the best IR source for the job. Let me know if you require any more info. Cheers.
  10. +1 on what Dan said. Always plan for more.
  11. There is something wrong here mate. Get it sent back under warranty. I've had three Photons. I still have two, and only sold the other one because I felt that it wasn't getting enough use. For the money they are absolutely superb. . I converted all mine to the "XTreme" models. This is some of my footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Urj8uh8azQI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okhzbfyDBjQ
  12. Zero it at any time throughout the day. Just remember to limit the amount of light that is thrown at the sensor - attach the front cap. I know of people who also attach the front cap for use at night, but just push out the centre disk. Removal of the batteries will not lose your X&Y settings.
  13. Rabbits out feeding in the day points to the fact that they are confident to be out, mostly probably knowing that there are few to no predators are around. With no predators around to keep their numbers in check it sounds like you might have a ticking time-bomb on your hands. Forget how much grass that they are depriving the horses of right now, but just imagine the situation in 3, 6, 12 months time with all those extra rabbit mouths to feed. As you know, under the right conditions this little buggers breed like it is going out of fashion.
  14. As Walshie and the rest of the guys say, it is the holes that cause the problems for a landowner with horses and/or cattle.
  15. I have huge amounts of patience, after all I am a reloader myself ( ). I must say though, if I had to go through that palaver every time I wanted to go out and shoot some bunnies .......... Pass me a bow and arrow!
  16. Good man Walshie. There is hope for you yet.
  17. I'm not surprised as the Lux looks like an elephant gun. And they don't have an american in stock, Cheers for that, but I think I've decided on a CZ527. I have the 527 in .17 Hornet. It has a 24" 'varmint' barrel. It is nothing like a real varmint barrel though. I once owned a Tikka T3 Varmint. It had a Jet-Z CQB sat on the end as well!! I don't find the 527 at all heavy. It has a Hardy Gen moddy, Vortex x50 scope and a Harris bipod attached. Slung over my shoulder I can carry it around for hours without a problem. Now I know that we are generally accepted ( ) to
  18. Happy days on the grouping mate. I've just taken a look in one of my reloading manuals and it states that RX15 with a 55 grain pill can start as low as 31.7 grains, going to a maximum of 35.5 grains. No wonder you were seeing signs of overpressure. . Toss that book in the skip!
  19. I'm in the same boat chum. All foxes have to go, regardless. No sign of cubs around here yet though.
  20. It is a process that will drive you mad, that's for sure. When I was out I took a few spare rounds that I had left over from a different batch. The load was exactly the same, all except the primers. These few were using CCI 400. The consistency of this group was just as tight, but they all shot an inch or so lower than the rounds using the Fiocchi primers. Mad eh? Good luck with holding on to your sanity Walshie. It managed to drive me bonkers a long time ago.
  21. "Now then, now then ......... " Here you go Walshie, 3 shots from my .223 at 100 yards. 26.5 grains of CFE 223. Fiocchi primers. 55 grain Nosler Varma. http://s1055.photobucket.com/user/Tremo-01/library/Shooting
  22. I'll get a few pics uploaded of my groupings at 200 yards when I get out (hopefully next few days). I've had my .223 on night-time foxing duty for the last few months so I need to get it back into daytime mode. . I've never used N133 Walshie so I can't give any opinion or advice there. I run CFE 223 out of mine with 55gr Nosler Varmageddon pills.
