  1. Hi chaps. I'm looking to get my hands on some new (or once fired) brass. Is anyone aware of any good deals going on? Suggestions on quality, or experiences with the brass that is currently on the market would be appreciated. Tremo
  2. No worries. I'll keep you informed of the effectiveness of the unit. Foxes aren't my main concern at the moment. CROWS! Loads of them around my permissions, and it is so difficult to get anywhere near them. Needless to say that I don't use an electronic caller on them, but the hand caller and some decoys are going to be deployed next week. . That is a discussion for a different topic though. ATB
  3. Between the continual rain I managed to get out for an hour or two late this afternoon. The objective was to simply give it a field test ........... but I took my rifle along, just in case . All in all I was quite impressed. The horn gave out a good belt, and at 100 yards away I was able to flick through the calls with no effort at all. I wasn't able on this occasion to test it to advertised 300 yards. Did it call in a fox I hear you asking?? I'm afraid not. Not that this was any fault of the unit though. I had a bit of a' blonde' moment when I had planned my attack. It was only after abo
  4. Tikka T3 Varmint in .22-250 (1:14). Sako 50gr Arrowheads. I thought about a .223, but I also wanted a calibre that I could stretch in the daylight also.
  5. The GC350 arrived today. First impressions ........ It looks and feels well built. I loaded up the unit with the batteries (4 x AA) and tried out the supplied calls. The volume range is good and it certainly packs a punch (15W). The majority of the calls are aimed for the US market as I knew (coyotes etc.), but there are a good few that can be used here in 'Ole Blighty. I had a number of my own calls to hand so I thought I would try them out also. Transferring them to the SD card in the unit was painless, and after a bit of file renumbering (the unit recognises calls files in the range
  6. Hi Dan. I have the Icotec GC350 on order. It should be here early next week. I'll let you know what I think of it. I was in the same position as you, and I did contemplate the GC500, but I could not justify the extra £40/£50. Yes I agree, the remote is a nice to have, but do you really need to see the name of every sound that you have on the unit? When would you ever need to see the name of every sound that you have on the unit when you are out in the field? I might use a handful of calls when I'm out for fox. I can drop those on to the first set of button presses before I leave home. Just

  8. Harris every day of the week! Make sure that you get the swivel model as it will prove priceless in the field.
  9. HW97 or AA TX200. I've always preferred the .177 calibre. It will do all that you need.
  10. Welcome .............. from The Land of Milk and Honey.
  11. I have a 1417, and I also have a SAK on it. You won't get anything better for the cash. Don't throw away your hard-earned on a high end moddy when you are using subs. For what it will cost, you won't see much of an improvement. By the way, I use Eleys through mine. Accurate. I did originally have a SAK on my 1517 as well. After a while though I decided to change it to a calibre-specific mod, and went for a Swift Nightingale. I was never going to get rid of the crack, but I must admit the new mod does quieten the blast considerably.
  12. It saddens me to say, but I have to agree with Bigthug87. My father in law and I joined a club back earlier this year. We got to know a good number of the members there, and although we found the majority of them to be very friendly and easy going, a substantial percentage were indeed full of their own self-importance. It seemed to me to be a trait associated with being on the committee (?). "My Precious!" . It didn't really bother me, I just ignored them, but my father-in-law found them extremely condescending, and even felt humiliated at times. Long story short, we haven't been back. A
  13. IMHO - HW100 all the way. I've had both. When I think HW100 it always reminds me of the old VW advert on the TV when the guy closes the door. Solid! Extremely reliable and also superbly accurate. Just make sure that you can handle the weight before you buy. It's a hefty lump, if you plan on lugging it around for a few hours, then don't be surprised if you won't be able to lift a mug of tea when you get home.
  14. My .17 HMR is the workhorse for me. It is nectar to shoot, does everything I want, everything that is except go unnoticed. . That's why I have my .22, especially for the night foray. Silence! As Cedric says, a different tool for a different use.
  15. I like your Tikka Elliott. I've been considering one of these lately myself, only in 22-250. More or less made up my mind for an X Bolt now though. Hopefully the toss of the coin works out for me!
  16. 200+ rounds with 17gr Hornady V MAX for me. No problems whatsoever. Prior to Hornady I tried the Winchester Supreme V MAX. ..... 20 rounds, 12 split cases. Not good. Back to the RFD they went.
